ADMINISTRATORS CORNER
As we move into spring and the warmer weather, we have a few suggestions:
-Please review the dress code policy, and continue to have conversations about appropriate and safe behavior at school. The dress code starts on page 26 on the document found here:
-Please have a plan in place for your child's after-school activities. If they are walking to the library, we want to remind you there is no supervision between BMS and the library, nor is there supervision outside around the library property. It has been reported that some students have been engaging in horseplay or making unsafe choices, so we would appreciate if you can have conversations to help curb that behavior.

We want as many people participating as possible!

ADMINISTRATORS CORNER
We are excited to announce that BMS has partnered with the Massachusetts Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Program! This organization works to increase safe biking and walking among elementary and middle school students by using a collaborative, community-focused approach that bridges the gap between health and transportation. SRTS utilizes the six E’s to implement its program- Education, Encouragement, Enforcement, Evaluation, Engineering, and Equity.
To start this partnership, we are asking families to help us collect some data to make informed decisions about how to best use the resources. We have a brief survey, the results of which survey will help plan safe transportation options for all students, identify areas for improvement, and assist this community in an effort to reduce traffic congestion during arrival and dismissal times.
This brief survey should take no longer than three minutes, and will collect information like:
The average distance students travel to school
How students are getting to and from school
The estimated annual Greenhouse Gas emissions released specifically related to the number of students being driven to school
Please consider taking this BRIEF survey by visiting: https://masaferoutessurvey.org/ then selecting "Bellingham" and "Bellingham Memorial Middle School" from the drop-down menu.

NURSES NEWS
To Parents of current 6th Graders - it is a Massachusetts State Law (Chapter 76, Section 15) that all students entering 7th grade have on file in the nurse's office documentation that they have had a recent physical and their tetanus booster. Your student will not be allowed to come to school in September without this documentation. I know how backed up scheduling can be in a busy Pediatrician's office, so please see that you have an appointment scheduled for your child before September.
As always, if you have ANY questions. please feel free to contact me! (mloftus@bpsdk12.org, 508) 883-2248).
