Other stuff...
Assessment Practices - Tip of the Week:
A key premise is for students to be able to improve, they must have the capacity to monitor the quality of their own work during actual production. This in turn requires that students:
- Know what high quality work looks like
- Be able to objectively compare their work to the standard
- Have a toolbox of strategies to make work better based on their observations (Sadler, 1989)
In other words, if we want to use assessment as a tool for learning, students need to:
- Know where they're going
- Know where they are now
- Know how to close the gap
Education Articles:
You can find the list of professional articles I shared with you yesterday HERE .
Check back periodically to see what new articles have been added.
Differentiation:
Differentiation continues to be a key component of best instructional practices. You can find additional resources regarding differentiation at 50 Tools for Differentiating
PARCC Release Info:
A selection of test questions that were given on the PARCC assessment during the spring of 2015 are now available online. While Ohio is no longer using PARCC, these items are a useful tool to inform classroom instruction and give insight into the kinds of questions students experienced on tests.
The released test questions represent roughly one full test per grade level in the two subjects tested – math and English language arts. PARCC also has indicated the learning standards associated with each test item and scoring rubrics that show what is required to score at each performance level. Examples of scored student responses also are available to illustrate actual work and the corresponding points earned on the student example.
The items are available on the PARCC Partnership Resource Center website.
Know your Apps:
I confess, there are a number of apps out there that I am not familiar with. I found this article that describes 10 different apps. Unfortunately, they're listed in an article that lists apps that can be misused for cyberbullying and by predators. Take a look HERE!
Scheduled Maintenance Day:
Our second Scheduled Maintenance Day at Albion is set for Monday, November 23. Maintenance crew members will be at Albion to take care of those maintenance issues that have already been entered into the system.
If you have maintenance items to be addressed in your classroom, or that you have noticed throughout the school, please make sure you enter them no later than Wednesday, November 18. You can access the District's work order system HERE
