Author James Phelan to visit TPCA September 29!
Phelan speaks at both public and Christian schools across the country and around the world; he spent a week in Indiana this past spring and students responded very well to his engaging presentation. What a great opportunity for our students hear directly from a successful, published author!
Please be aware that TPCA does not endorse all statements and opinions contained on Phelan's website. However, this is an opportunity for us to be salt and light in all areas of our world, and hearing from a published author is an opportunity we do not want to pass up!

Reception for Mrs. Mais on Wednesday, September 30
Please join us for a farewell reception honoring Ms. Mais and her service to TPCA students, families, and staff on Wednesday, September 30 at 4:00 PM in the JK Stevens Commons.
As many of you know, Ms. Mais is getting married and the couple will soon be moving to southern Indiana to begin their new life together. Mrs. Mais is a passionate educator who has been an integral part of RTI (Response to Student Intervention) , PLC (Professional Learning Communities), and our scheduling process. With her leadership and passion for literacy she has helped raise thousands of dollars for the Academy through our many book fairs. She has been a strong advocate and devoted mentor for hundreds of TPCA students, and has served as an unofficial counselor for both students as well as staff. She will be greatly missed, but we rejoice and celebrate with her as she begins this new and exciting chapter of her life.
Traders Point Christian Academy Ranks As #1 Indiana School in the 2015 Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge
TPCA has reason to celebrate because its students read more than 267,586 minutes this summer, earning the title as the number one Indiana school in the 2015 Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge. The school will be listed in the 2016 Scholastic Book of World Records and will receive a special personalized plaque to commemorate the students’ summer reading achievements. This summer, children from across all 50 states and 28 countries read 286,611,349 million minutes in Scholastic’s 9th annual summer reading program.
This free, global summer reading program, created by Scholastic and powered by Energizer®, encourages children worldwide to “Power Up & Read” and to log the minutes they spend reading in order to unlock 12 original stories written by favorite children’s authors and earn digital rewards for reading milestones. The program aims to avoid the effects of the “summer slide” – the learning losses which can occur when school is not in session.
Congratulations to all of our summer readers for their hard work and accomplishment!

Creating Positive Relationships PLUS Oct 12-16
TPCA is proud to partner with an organization called Creating Positive Relationships to provide BIBLICALLY and ABSTINENCE BASED (CPR +) sex education to our students.
CPR curriculum is utilized in many public and private schools, including Zionsville. However, the curriculum used in our school (CPR +)differs from that used in the public schools (CPR) because of its biblical and abstinence-based perspective.
CPR + curriculum will be taught to students in 5th-8th grade, and 10th grade and new to TPCA upperclassmen during the week of of October 12-16. Parents will soon be sent a link to preview the content that will be taught to their students that week. Each grade level receives separate, grade-level appropriate instruction. Below is a brief overview of what will be covered at each grade level:
5th graders will have a one-day, one-hour session (boys and girls split) to learn about their body changes only (males learn about males, females about females).
6-8th graders will receive 5 days of instruction during one period each day. These grade levels discuss more about relationships, boundaries, and what God has to say about sex before and within marriage.
10th grade, and any new to TPCA upperclassmen will receive 5 days of instruction during one period each day and will expand on the topics discussed in 6th-8th grades.
If you have any questions, please contact Julie Harris, School Counselor: JLHarris@tpcs.org.

Order Your Yearbook and Share Pictures with the Yearbook Staff!
TPCA's Golden Eagle Yearbook Staff is eager to get started with all matters of yearbook. With our school's verse being "You Belong," Romans 12:5b, we desire for everyone to "belong" to the contribution of the photos for this year's edition. Simply by creating an account with www.replayit.com, you can easily upload pictures that you take at school-events. Since the yearbook staff cannot be at all events or in all classrooms 24/7, you can fill the gap. Our staff will review submitted pictures, but please note that we could not possibly include ALL submitted photos. So, be selective in the ones you choose to upload. Pictures taken with digital cameras are better, as the resolution on many cell phones doesn't always allow us to resize the photo.
To make sure that you won't miss out on the great moments of the year, be sure to order your copy of the Golden Eagle Yearbook. The sooner you order, the better the pricing!
Ordering is easy with internet access and a credit card. Go to the following link: http://www.jostens.com.
Order by October 31, 2015, and the price is ONLY $25.
If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Danielle Tooley, adviser, by email at dtooley@tpcs.org.
Thank you!
