Macbeth Act 5 Scene 5
1979 Trevor Nunn V.S. 2010 Rupert Goold
I felt that the 1979 Trevor Nunn version was more accurate to the book. In the book, Macbeth is depressed and cold- hearted. He doesn't seem to care about his wife dying because she was just going to die sometime. i believe that Trevor Nunn had protrayed that very well in his version by how Macbeth had such a blank, emotionless stare on his face. However, I liked Rupert Goold's version beter becaouse of the fact that while Macbeth was saying his soliloquy the witches had brought in Lady Macbeth's dead, lifeless body. I liked that because you could see how Macbeth grew even moe depressed than he orginally was.
Lady Macbeth is dead.
One difference I had noticed between the two versions is that the messenger had said his message in two completly different tones of voices. This was significant because it got a different reaction from Macbeth.
Macbeth's Reaction
One major diffence that I saw is that Macbeth's reaction to Lady Macbeth dying was completely different between the two clips. This is significant because it showed a different view point on Macbeth.
Safe and Sound
A similarity that I had found was that this scene is both movies was set in Macbeth's castle. This was significant because it showed that Macbeth felt safe in his castle. He believed no one could harm him...yet.
