Superintendent's Weekly Update - August 24th

Back to School Information

School starts tomorrow for most of our students. Please make sure you double-check the start dates.


Board Meeting Location - The Board of Education meeting will be held at 7 pm in the high school auditorium. ** Please note the location change. There will be a public comment section at the beginning of the meeting like there always is.


Masks:


Please review the letter I emailed out Tuesday night regarding the mask requirement starting Monday, August 23rd for all students and staff indoors. We will have masks available for students but please send them with a mask every day. We are still going to conduct open houses on Monday. Please review the times below. Masks are required at Open House.

Sporting Events:


- Spectators will be required to wear a mask starting Monday at all indoor events. There are NO capacity restrictions this year. Please come out and support our student-athletes!


- Live Streams - We will be live streaming as many events as we can this year. It will probably not be as many as last year but we will try and do a lot. CLICK HERE TO SAVE THE OTSEGO TV LINK


Important Items regarding attendance:


- Self assess your students before they get on the bus or get dropped off


- Make sure your child has a mask before they get on the bus or enter the buildings.


- Please make sure you have updated phone numbers in PowerSchool and you answer the school's number when we call. I would add 419-823-4381 in your contacts. We are hoping this doesn't happen but we may have to call you after hours for quarantine purposes. There will be very limited occurrences where we will have to quarantine as a result of wearing masks. Lunches are going to be spread out as much as possible which will help drastically reduce our quarantines.



JH AND HS PARKING AND TRAFFIC FLOW REMINDER:


Student drop-off and pick-up location is in the FRONT of the HS and JH. Parents, please do not pick up or drop off your child(ren) in the back of the building. The bus parking area is for BUSES ONLY.

7th and 8th-grade Football Drop off Wednesday, August - DO NOT DROP THEM OFF AT THE BUS PARKING SPOT.


There will be administrators in the parking lots during the first week of school to help direct traffic as well.

We are still waiting on the availability of the Stroh Center from BGSU for graduation. We hope to set a date really soon.

This site will identify the schools assigned to your residential address, as well as a bus number, designated stop, pick-up and drop-off time.



Pick-up and Drop-off

· Please ensure your child is at the bus stop at least five (5) minutes before the scheduled time to ensure they are there when the bus arrives.

· Pick-up and drop-off times may need to be adjusted during the beginning weeks of school and will become more consistent for the remainder of the year.

· Times posted on this site reflect the expected time the bus should depart during good weather.

· Inclement weather or traffic congestion may cause the route to run later than the posted time.

· The school bus is on a tight schedule so that we can deliver students to all school levels on time.

Wood County Vaccination Information

Food Service

Meals will be FREE all year. All students will have access to free breakfast and lunch the entire year. At the JH and HS if your student wants to buy extra meals or ala carte items they can add money to their lunch account just like last year.

Free and Reduced Application – We still need you to fill out a free and reduced application if you qualify. This is VERY important for a lot of different reasons. There is a very convenient way to fill this out online. https://www.lunchapplication.com/.


Please fill this out if you were free or reduced last year or your circumstances have changed and you think you qualify. If you qualify, you may be allowed to waive other fees throughout the year. It is very important that this gets filled out ASAP.

Final Forms online registration is now open for students in grades K-12 for the 2021-2022 school year.


Online registration is a requirement for all parents of new or returning students. This MUST be completed by a parent or guardian. FinalForms is the information the school uses to communicate with parents via email and phone and has to be updated yearly by the parent.
