January Leader In Me Habit - Think Win Win
From the Principal
What a quick month of January for all of us at Stoney Creek! The time goes so fast especially when we are having fun being learners and leaders. We have had field trips to the Symphony and now today we had fun at our very first Cub Club. Thank you to our many volunteers and teachers who were leading a small group discussion on leadership. We moved about the building and met new friends. We will have another Cub Club again in May.
We also have a new leader in the school and he is keeping our emotions in check every day. His name is Deacon and he is a nine year old Australian Labradoodle who is well trained by the West Michigan Therapy Dog and his owner, Jodi Smith. We are so lucky to have him with us each day. He has already helped so many of students in many ways from a sad start to the day, a child upset over lunch choices, students needing a chill break, students sad to leave school, a frustrating moment…and even making Mrs. Jackson get all her steps in a day.
Thank you for participating in our fundraisers this school year. These fundraisers are an important part of our school and provide so many wonderful things such as field trips and Scholastic News for the classroom. Thank you to the PTO for organizing and spending time counting money and providing many travel expenses and field trip costs for our students.
Mrs. Tiffany Jackson
Reading Minutes Due on Monday, January 28, 2019
Winter Weather Notes
Please remember that when the temperature or wind chill are zero or below zero that the kiddos will stay in from recess. If it is warmer than zero we will go out so please dress students with boots, snowpants, hats, mittens, and coats. We also ask that students arrive to school ready to go outdoors (on the days that the temps allow).
When our school is closed it will be listed on media (tv, radio, etc.) as COMSTOCK PARK PUBLIC SCHOOLS. Please note that there is a district in Kalamazoo that is Comstock Public Schools. Please note the difference when schools are closing. Thanks!
