Message From Mrs. Hafey
Our theme this year is, Only One You! Sunset Elementary is a school of diversity and acceptance of others as unique individuals! By respecting individuality, we can each make a difference in our own lives and the lives of those around us!

PARCC Data
Our staff dug dip into the state standards and analyzed their teaching strategies! They spent many hours analyzing the data so they knew where they needed to strengthen their teaching! They collaborated with their grade level teams and colleagues throughout the building. They built independent, self thinkers, and problem solvers!
Our students they worked hard in the classrooms, day in and day out! Persevered until they conquered the material! They began looking at learning with a Growth Mindset rather than a Fixed Mindset! They began to take control of their learning - problem solving and building their own confidence!
Our parents trusted Sunset in our need to have everyone tested! They supported Sunset during this assessment period!
With this new data, we again will break it down and continue to improve our students ability to master the Colorado State Standards, to become stronger self thinkers and problem solvers! We will continue to build students with a Growth Mindset!
THE POWER of YET!!!
Next steps for this coming year: Goal setting with our students, use of our new Reading Curriculum (Wonders), Science/Math days (1 per month), and continue working closely with our state standards!
THANK YOU...
Paperwork...
Meeting with Blyth - in regards to closing and Elementary School
Where: Sunset Elementary
Why: To share out the process of closing an elementary school
**Blythe will be meeting EVERY elementary school for an information night!
Fire Drills and Shelter in Place
Shelter in Place: There are times that we will put Sunset Elementary into a Shelter in Place to help support a student, yet allow for learning to continue. If a Shelter in Place should happen for longer than a 15 minute time frame - an email will be shared with you. If you have questions in regards to this practice, please stop in and talk with Mrs. Hafey!
Shelter In Place –
This is a precaution aimed to keep our students and staff safe while remaining indoors. (This is not the same thing as going to a shelter in case of a storm.) This type of response could be utilized by the school for minor incidents when it is in the students and staff's best interest to remain in their classrooms while education continues.
• Access to the school by parents or others could be restricted and limited based upon the situation.
THANK YOU.....
Makerspace: FMCE (Friends of Moffat County Education) for supporting our items in our MakerSpace and a large contribution for the purchase of our 20 new desktop computers for our 2nd computer lab!
