ENSURE THE AREA IS SAFE FOR YOU, OTHERS AND THE PATIENT


R=RESPONSE

CHECK FOR RESPONSE-ask the patients name, squeeze their shoulders

-IF THERE IS NO RESPONSE

-Send for help

-IF THERE IS RESPONSE

-Make the patient comfortable

-Check the patient for injuries

-Monitor the patients response


S=SEND FOR HELP

-CALL TRIPLE ZERO(000) for an

ambulance or ask another person to make the call.


A=AIRWAY

-OPEN THE PATIENTS MOUTH-if foreign material is present:

-Place the patient in the recovery position

-Clear the patients with fingers

OPEN THE PATIENTS AIRWAY by tilting their head with their chin lift up


B=BREATHING

-CHECK IF THE PATIENT IS BREATHING-look, listen and feel.

-IF THE PATIENT IS NOT BREATHING NORMALLY

-Start CPR

-IF THE PATIENT IS BREATHING NORMALLY

-Place the patient in the recovery position

-Monitor the patients breathing

-Manage the patients injuries

-Treat the patient for shock


C=CARDIO PULMONARY RESUSCITATION (CPR)

-START CARDIO PULMONARY RESUSCITATION (CPR) 30 CHEST COMPRESSIONS

2BREATHES

-Continue CPR until help arrives

or patient recovers


D=DEFIBRILLATION

APPLY DEFIBRILLATOR if available and follow voice prompts
