Math- Geometry
There have been some technical difficulties with PowerSchool lately. Grades will be updated soon. We began a very short unit on Geometry today, beginning with the properties of triangles. We will spend more time going over and practicing identifying the properties of quadrilaterals.
English Language Arts (Reading)
Today, your child read a nonfiction article on dogonews.com about the truth behind Friday the 13th. They also used context clues to learn some unfamiliar words in that passage.
Please make sure your child is still reading a fiction book for enjoyment and jotting nightly. This book should come back and forth from school to home daily. Remind them to log their reading on Biblionasium daily.
Science-Properties of Matter
This week the class learned about the differences between physical and chemical changes. The class got to witness experiment where they saw wood burning and got to see the formation of a gas. Ask them what signals demonstrate they are witnessing a physical or chemical change. Next week, we will wrap up our unit on Matter: Properties and Change. Students have a quiz on Chemical and Physical Changes on Monday, November 16th. The unit test is Friday, November 20th. Look for the study guide on Monday.
The vocabulary list for the Unit on Matter is posted on my Weebly. I would suggest creating vocabulary flash cards with the word on the front and the definition with examples on the back to promote further understanding.
