A MESSAGE FROM MRS. LAPLANT

Dear Families,

It's been a great start to the school year. We really appreciate everyone's patience as we fine-tune our arrival and drop-off procedures. We have about 100 more students in person this year than we did last year so that does account for some of the delays you've been experiencing.

If you drop your children off at school in the morning, please pull up as close as possible to the car in front of you. If your children are able, you may allow them to begin unloading before you reach the corner of the parent drop-off line. This will help us keep things moving.

While I do expect delays to continue through next week, I am hopeful that as our students and families become more familiar with our routines that we will be able to get everyone in and out in a more timely manner. Again, thank you all so much for your patience.

GOOGLE UPDATES RESTRICTIONS FOR 4K-12 ACCOUNTS

As of September 1, Google changed their access to some of their Google services for all 4K-12 education Google accounts. Students in FPS started to see the effects of these new restrictions this week. Google has implemented these restrictions to protect student privacy and security and to restrict content designated as over 18.

The new restrictions enforce Google's Safe Search feature and limit YouTube access to videos categorized for education and appropriate for under 18. More details from Google can be found here.

LUNCH MENU UPDATES & SWAPPED ITEMS

Our FPS Food Service Department is currently experiencing a number of changes in food supply offerings due to shortages or certain items. If you have a child that has certain dietary needs or restrictions, please review the online Nutrislice menu offerings for your building more closely so you can be aware of any food items that may have been swapped. Our Food Service staff is updating the menu daily with changes and they expect regular updates and food replacements for the foreseeable future.

FRANKLIN PUBLIC SCHOOLS IS HIRING

We are hiring for Food Service Workers ($15/hour starting wage, full and part-time), Kids Club Workers (working with students before and after school), and Bus Drivers ($21/hour starting wage, other bonuses, paid training through First Student in Muskego).

VISITORS AND VOLUNTEERS IN SCHOOL

In regards to visitors or volunteers, any person entering any school building during the school day when children are present for school is required to wear a mask, regardless of vaccination status. Masks should be worn at all times when in the building, and the visitor/volunteer should limit direct contact with others and maintain social distance (6 feet or more) when able.

Visitors and volunteers who are outdoors during the school day where students are present are required to wear a mask unless they have been vaccinated. Visitors or volunteers in the building after school, in locations where students are not present, are not required to wear a mask.

BUS REMINDERS

Bus Reminders

  • Bus Driver Shortage: Please review this document that we shared on August 31 with all families to make you aware of how a bus driver shortage could impact our bus routes and how we will communicate this with you in the event we can not secure a driver for your child’s route.

  • Bus Riders Wear Masks: Any individual on a school bus (or any public transportation) is federally required to wear a mask. Please make sure your student has a mask before heading to the bus. Even if students are choosing not to wear a mask while at school, a mask must be worn on the bus at all times. Thank you.

  • Need a Bus Change or Addition? If you have any additions or changes needed for the busing of your child, please use this Bus Change or Addition Form.

Bus Drivers Needed: We are continuing to support First Student in their recruiting efforts. First Student provides $21/hour starting pay, a $1500 sign-on bonus, paid CDL training, 20-hours a week guaranteed with extra hours available, a child ride-along program, and no experience necessary. If you are interested in a career with First Student or know someone who may be, please pass along this opportunity. All hiring information for bus drivers is here.
