ZTA: Kappa Eta - A Year in Review
A look at the things our chapter has been up to this year!
Introduction
Letter from the President...
Dear ZTA friends and family,
What a year it has been for the Kappa Eta chapter of ZTA at RU this year! We expanded our family in the fall and spring semesters through our CROWN and formal recruitment processes, and could not be happier with these women we gained for our chapter. We have been working towards our chapter goals of increased service, philanthropy and sisterhood through some amazing programs this year. Kappa Eta will say goodbye to 13 seniors this May, but wish them well in their future endeavors. ZTA placed 3rd in Greek week this year due to collaboration and leaders among the chapter. It is a joy to work with all 107 members of this chapter and learn more about leadership and sisterhood each day. Please know Kappa Eta appreciates all of your support in whatever capacity you can provide it, and we hope to see you in the fall for upcoming events!
Zeta Love and Mine,
Ani Haroian

Think Pink Week
Think Pink Week is Kappa Eta’s annual philanthropy week at Rockhurst University. It consists of a collection of events to raise money for breast cancer research, awareness, and education. This year was one of our most successful yet!

Estella
The Kappa Eta women continue to sponsor a child in Guatemala through the organization Unbound (formally CFCA). Our support helps Estella’s living expenses such as food, clothing, and school. We also send and receive pictures and letters with her. Some of our members even had the opportunity to meet Estella during a service trip to Guatemala.
Joint Service Projects
The gentleman of Pi Kappa Alpha invited our chapter to team up with them for an afternoon volunteering at the local Boys and Girls Club of Greater Kansas City. This is one of our favorite examples of our organization working together with another for the greater good. Both the kids and our volunteers had a blast!

Fall Semi-Formal
Every year Kappa Eta plans a Fall Semi-Formal and two formal dances for its members and dates of their chose to attend. This fall, we had a relaxed and fun semi-formal event at a local bowling alley. Not only was this event different, we were able to celebrated the end of a very busy and successful Think Pink Week.

The ZTA Foundation Announces Exciting New Partnerships
For more than 20 years we’ve been thinking pink, but we’re just getting started! Zeta Tau Alpha’s commitment to breast cancer education and awareness is stronger than ever. We have the motivation. We have the passion. We have the opportunities. Now we need you!
The ZTA Foundation is excited to announce we now have THREE Think Pink® partnerships that will bring a multitude of opportunities for volunteering, encouraging survivors, taking action and opening dialogue. Together with these partners, we will expand our impact further than it has ever gone before. The fight against breast cancer is more than a ribbon. It’s survivor recognition, education and awareness.
- SURVIVOR RECOGNITION: The American Cancer Society®—Making Strides Against Breast Cancer® Walk: Through a newly minted premier partnership, Zetas across the country will be volunteering at the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walks in nearly 300 communities this October. As the new National Survivor Ambassador for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, ZTA will grow the ACS survivor recognition program with the help of our amazing alumnae and collegiate volunteers at each walk. ZTA will be featured on the ACS survivor T-shirt and more in 2015.
- EDUCATION: Bright Pink®—Brighten Up® Workshops: In a new partnership with Bright Pink, a national nonprofit organization focused on prevention and early detection of breast and ovarian cancer, we’re bringing the Brighten Up Educational Workshop to each of our collegiate chapters. This program will educate, equip and empower our members to be advocates for their own breast and ovarian health. We plan to grow this program over time to include Panhellenic women, others in the campus community and even alumnae members.
- AWARENESS: National Football League—“A Crucial Catch” Games: ZTA is proud to continue its partnership with the National Football League for its “A Crucial Catch” games. This fall will mark our 17th season of reaching out to fans and spreading awareness through the distribution of millions of Think Pink® ribbons. ZTA NFL Coordinators will continue to organize local volunteers for these games.
Zeta Tau Alpha is excited to jump into action with these partnerships to increase our impact and continue our work to make pink just another color. Pinning a ribbon is just the beginning. Now, our fight against breast cancer is more than a ribbon. It’s our mission. It’s hope for our future. It’s every one of us, and we’re counting on YOU to continue the fight!
