Student Library Aide Information
Teacher: Mrs. Brandi Grant
Student library aides for 2016-2017 will be notified on Feb. 11th. There will be 8 spots, 1 each period.
Requirements
- B+ GPA
- No excessive detentions or ISS placements
- Good attendance record
- A love of reading
- Attention to detail
- Extensive knowledge of the alphabet
- Completed application
- Two teacher recommendations
It is extremely important that the student is self-motivated and reliable. Aides will be expected to act in a professional manner with staff and fellow students. Aides will be assessed on media literacy skills, library duties, creating and maintaining displays, and independent reading.
Reponsibilities
Student library aides have many responsibilities and will be graded upon how well they complete the tasks below:
- Shelving and straightening books
- Dust/clean up around computer stations, shelves, and reading areas
- Check in/out books
- Run errands
- Check in, put away, and straighten magazines
- Shelf reading (checking assigned shelves to be sure that books are in the correct place)
- Book recommendations
- Checking id numbers of students who need to use the computers
- Creating/maintaining displays to promote reading
- Assisting librarian with processing new books
