Voice?
Read
Try pulling text that have strong direct or indirect examples of voice. Then, have students mark the text underlining the diction and/or syntax that support the voice.
Write
Tell over dramatic students to be over dramatic in their writing. If a student is sarcastic, have him/her be sarcastic in his/her writing. Meet them in their comfort zone and hone their writing skills from there.
Pretend
Have students think of a person or character with a brilliant personality. Next, give the students a topic and have them write about that topic in the voice of the person they hand in mind.
Let Me Know
These strategies have worked for me. Let me know what you think. Also, others can add comments and share what they have done. Good luck! #NCSSBeTheBest
