11:00-4:00 Lunch/PLAN time
I know that many of you have put in to take this day off to travel with your own child to a sporting event or doctor appointments - be sure to drive safe! Thank you for letting me know ahead of time. If you did not let me know - you cannot just take this day off - it needs to go through an approval process! See me if you have any questions!
Due to the high numbers in 1st Grade (over the Policy established numbers), Dr. Ulrich has allowed us to hire a Para Professional. Therefore, we have hired Jamie Webb - she will be starting with us on Monday, September 30!
Indoor Recess
So, this past week we had our first in-door recess during lunch time! Due to the overlapping of grades in the gym at a time, we asked them to come in and either sit and talk with their friends or WALK on the outer lines! For the classes that brought in a basket of coloring or a storage container of building blocks, this also worked well for the kids! We are choosing to not allow balls of any sorts, the game of tag or most other games is due to the safety factor - last year students were getting hurt.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Moby Max
Due to this being our only Progress Monitoring system for Math, please be sure to do the following:
1. Share your IEP students that have Math goals with Jen
2. Give all your students the Math Diagnostic - be sure to let the students know how important this is
3. Put each child's Moby Max log in information in their Bulldog Notebook
Greeting Times
Be sure to use this time to mingle with our students and parents if they are on the playground! Front of the building greeters - great job in greeting parents as they are moving to the playground areas!
In case you are needing your Wonders log in Code! Please use only your code!
Be sure to alert your parents through DoJo about our Fundraising that begins Monday, September 16 and goes through September 27! This is our biggest fundraiser of the year!
HUGE SHOUT OUT to the Dibels team for preparing for our first Data Dialogue!
Don't forget to check the google doc to ensure you know where your kids are going for reading groups! The name of the google doc. is: Updated 9-12-19 Ell Preliminary Groupings and Intervention Reading Groups

During PE/Music times
2nd Step and Library Times
After talking with Kyla and Tilila/Kim we are thinking that it would be beneficial to stay in the classroom/library during your times. Staying in the classroom during 2nd Step would allow you to know the topics being covered so that you can support her curriculum past this once a week time. Also, I think it is important that you are active with your students in checking out books - ensuring the appropriate level is being checked out!
Please come see me if you have any questions in regards to this.
P.S. You can multi-task while 2nd Step is happening in your room - we are just asking you stay in the room.
Ketch-Up Folder
I know we had conversation around this and I gathered your thoughts. Thoughts were all over the place, therefore, here is what I am thinking.....
I would like parents to understand the content missed when their child is absent, therefore, filling out a Ketch-Up bottle sheet would help them visually see this.
It would also allow you to send home work that they can complete at home with the support of parents after they missed a day or so. How you manage this is up to you....
The purpose of the Ketch-Up folder is to remind parents how important attending school is and that they ARE missing important information.
Let me know if you have any questions around this, you can find a ketch-up sheet on the side of the filing cabinet in the office if you need.
Tasks Needing Your Attention....
1. If you would like to contribute a sum of money for Denise Seick for coming in and supporting Dibels assessment and training of our new reading para, please put your money in Hafey's mailbox! I'd like to get a dinner certificate here in town......this is not mandated
2. Share Spelling Inventory BOY data with Hafey......
3. Begin working on completing the math diagnostic in Moby Max
4. Be sure to post your Reading: Do Not Disturb sign when you and your class is engaging in DEAR time
5. If you cannot give DoJo points, come see Hafey to get you set up....we are going to work on getting away from giving teachers notes to add DoJo points
6. Stop by and see Becky, Kyla or myself in regards to a parent alert - I want you to see pictures of a mom/aunt that will be on our campus and the connection they have with other children in our school
Walk Through Look Fors
As I am visiting your classes, I will be focusing on the following:
1. DLT - evidence of being unpacked
2. Review of a lesson at the end - if I am there at this time - reviewing with your students if they reached the goal for the day
3. Evidence of Deep Planning
4. Evidence of Routines
5. Holding your students accountable...
Leave out Matrices and Lesson Plan books so I can get a feel as to where our kids are.....
Idea.....Seeking a grade level to participate....
I was wonder if your school would like to do a carton to garden project? Or at least some grade.
The carton to garden is where the milk cartons are reused to start seedlings for gardens. You can take picture and your school could be chosen to be featured.
I was hoping that the children could take home plant in their own garden and take pictures of what they produced how they ate it or made with it..
I can get you free seed for this, but not the potting soil. Maybe I can ask Wal-mart or another company in town to donate the soil.
Let me know of any other idea for the carton to garden. Maybe your student do this for the Sunset retirement home?
I know there are rules about how the seeds can be used also. I think one was not reselling the seed or the plant from the seed or something like that. I will have to check into true rules on the seed. I guess it also matter how many seeds I can get also how many grades can do this.
Let me know if you are interested

School Custodian Appreciation Day coming up....
I think we have a great opportunity coming our way to celebrate and appreciate our custodians. On this day, I am thinking we empty and take out all the trash! Just to get your thoughts going! Kris and Sarah do so much and go unnoticed each day! Just wanted to get this on your radar!
