The bombing on 16th Street
On September 15, 1963 Sunday morning in Birmingham, Alabama the Ku Klux Klan had bombed the 16th Street baptist church. Four colored girls were killed in the bombing, Addie Collins, Denise McNair, Carole Robertson, and Cynthia Wesley. Following the tragic event, some white strangers visited the families expressing their sorrow. More than 8,000 mourners and 800 clergymen of both races attended the services.
