BSMS Parent Newsletter
April 27-May 1
Staying connected during COVID-19 school closure
2. Students should check their Google Classroom or Haiku pages for weekly assignments.
3. If you do not have the Internet at home, have your parent or guardian stop by BSMS and pick up a learning packet.
4. Attend weekly zoom sessions with your teachers every Tuesday through Thursday. If you are a student of Mr. Britton, Mr. Fox, Mrs. Fuller-Wallace, or Mr. Fernandes they have help sessions on Mondays and Fridays.
5. If you can not attend weekly zoom sessions email your teacher and let them know.
6. Continue to read daily for 20 minutes.
7. Listen to weekly calls that are sent through the Connect 5 system, added to social media, and make sure you are signed up for Remind accounts.
8. If you are confused or have questions email your homeroom teacher to support and they will guide you in the right direction.
9. While we understand we are currently not "grading" assignments and school is not in session, we do want students to stay engaged in their classes. Students will be given a grade of pass or fail. Depending on what your academic standing as of March 12th, your participation in the final stretch of the school year does matter.
BSMS Family Check In Form
I am sure that with the most recent information about schools being closed for the remainder of the school year has you feeling overwhelmed and anxious. We are all just as heartbroken with these updates. This has really hit home with our teachers. We all miss our students!
As the principal of BSMS, I am asking you to please stay positive and calm for your children. Assure them that they are safe and that learning will continue through the end of the school year for our students.
In the meantime, if you have not responded to the questions on our Family Check-In Form, please so. If you have already filled it out and something has changed, please fill free to fill it out again so that we have current updates.
Please let us know how your family is doing and if you need anything. The link for this form is added below.
Teacher Appreciation Week
At the district level, Granville County Public Schools is asking parents and students to get involved by doing the following:
Join in on the celebration of our teachers! We will be making a video to appreciate teachers and want YOUR input and creativity to be included. There are several options for participation.

-Submit a 15 second (or less) audio file (Record using your phone's Voice Recorder/Memo app)
-Submit a quote of thanks or appreciation
-Submit a picture of your child holding a drawing or quote
Be creative. Both parents and students are encouraged to participate. These submissions will be joined together for a video to be posted on Friday, May 8 to finish off Teacher Appreciation Week. Please have all submissions in by Sunday, May 3 at midnight.
The name and photo associated with your Google account will be recorded when you upload files and submit this form.
Any files that are uploaded will be shared outside of the organization they belong to.
