Week of: 10-9-17
New Information
This Week's Lessons
This week's lesson schedule is linked below.
6th graders will be working on p. 8, 9, or 10 in their Standard of Excellence book depending on where they left off last time. Percussionists should write in the sticking in for the combination study in Lesson 3 in their Alfred book. Next week, all students will begin working in SmartMusic.
7th Graders will be recording another playing assignment in SmartMusic out of their red "Standard of Excellence" method book. This is simply an assessment and students should practice this assignment and ask questions about it prior to coming to their lesson.
Fall Concert: Tuesday, October 10
Report Time: All students need to report to their warm-up location no later than 6:30 PM on the night of the concert. We will warm-up and head to the stage as a group so it is very important that students arrive on time and ready to go.
Attendance: Concert attendance is a Sun Prairie Area School District Music Department proficiency statement and does appear on each student’s report card. Students are expected to stay at Prairie View for the entire concert. Once the 6th grade band has finished performing, students will be seated in the audience to listen to the 7th grade band before being dismissed for the evening. Furthermore, any absences must be submitted to Mr. Quaglieri in writing prior to the day of the concert and will be made up on an individual basis.
Concert Dress: Students must wear black pants and their Prairie View Bands dress shirt to the concert. Students need provide their own black pants; your student my grow into more than one size this year so it may be best to avoid an expensive pair. Black shoes are encouraged but are not required.
Seating: For your convenience, you may find your seat in the audience after you drop off your student. Please try to save seats near the ends of rows and toward the back for guests who may need a more easily-accessible location.
Webcasting: All band concerts that take place at PVMS are webcast for friends and family members who are out of town. The webcast will be available at www.spbb.org/pvms one half hour before the concert starts. Please share this link with any and all music lovers in your life!

Sun Prairie Honor Bands
The Sun Prairie Honors Band for 7th and 8th grade students will meet for a festival on November 18th, 2017. This ensemble serves students from several school districts in southern Wisconsin. It is a one day commitment for participants. Prairie View band students can audition for the ensemble following directions here.
Just the process of preparing for the audition will help your child make great gains in their playing. This is an excellent opportunity for Prairie View students to sit side by side with the strongest players in our area. Students who have been a part of the group in the past have enjoyed how this experience has stretched them musically and allowed them to meet new people who are also in band. Please contact Mrs. Sederquist if you have questions!
