FJVD Weekly Info

We Live the Word!

From the Principal's Desk

Dear Father Doyle Families,

What a wonderful week it has been! Our Annual Trunk or Treat was so much fun, we came together as a school community to celebrate Mass on All Saints Day on Tuesday (thank you to our fifth graders for their saint presentations!), our 8th graders participated in a special Latin Requiem Mass for All Souls Day on Wednesday, and our Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten classes celebrated with a pizza party on Thursday as their prize for leading our fundraising efforts in our Walk-a-thon.

And that was just a few of the highlights in addition to the incredible learning happening in our classrooms every day. Feeling blessed to be an FJVD Saint!

I've kept my message here brief this week as there is lots of information about upcoming events and programs below. Please be sure to continue reading!

FJVD Annual Veterans Day Prayer Service

You are cordially invited to the annual Veterans Day Prayer Service at Father Doyle School. The service will begin at 6:30pm on Tuesday evening, November 8th and will include the singing of our National Anthem, the playing of Taps, and a brief speaking program. For additional details, please see the flyer here. Thank you for joining us to celebrate and honor all of the veterans connected to our school community.

Do you know a veteran? Please consider completing and submitting the form here so they can be appropriately recognized at our service!

Introducing Middle School Parents' Night - RSVP Today!

Middle school is often a challenging time for students as they transition away from elementary school and towards high school. To that end, it is even more essential that parents of middle school students have the appropriate supports and information to be the best advocates for their students.

With this in mind, Mrs. Coutu and Mr. Peloquin will be hosting a Middle School Parents' Night on Wednesday, November 9th beginning at 6:30pm. There will be both an in-person and Zoom attendance option, and we are encouraging all middle school parents to attend.

Topics for the night will include:

  • Accessing and utilizing FACTS to monitor student progress
  • Understanding and supporting student use of the agenda
  • Overview of helpful study skills and strategies
  • Effective use of study hall and teacher office hours
  • Helpful tips around teen use of electronics

Please RSVP at the link here no later than Monday, November 7th. Again, both Zoom and in-person options are available!

Interested in Being an Altar Server?

Is your third through eighth grade student interested in being an altar server? See the form here for additional details. The next altar server training is scheduled for Saturday, November 12th!

FJVD Annual Christmas Shop is Coming!

It's hard to believe that the holidays are right around the corner! And with that comes our FJVD Annual Christmas Shop where students can purchase and wrap gifts for family and friends!

We are looking for volunteers to help with our store on Wednesday, November 30th and Thursday, December 1st. If you are available to help, even for just an hour, you can sign up here. If you don't see a shift that works for you, please feel free to email the PTO at fjvdpto@fjvd.org.

Picture Day is This Tuesday, November 8th!

On Tuesday, November 8th, your students should be dressed and ready for photo day! A reminder that students are not required to be in uniform for picture day. There is no paperwork to hand in and every child will be photographed.

About 5-7 days later you will receive an email containing the link to your child’s private online gallery to choose your package (be sure to check your email spam folder). Orders placed within the first two weeks will receive free shipping to the school and other coupon incentives!

Calling all Students and Families! Annual FJVD Christmas Concert - December 15th

We are excited to once again be preparing for our annual FJVD Christmas Concert. For those who are new to our school community, or perhaps were unable to participate last year, the Christmas Concert is traditionally held in early December and features musical performances from students across all grade levels.

This year's Christmas Concert is scheduled for Thursday, December 15th beginning at 6:30pm in the church. Each grade will be performing at least one musical number during the concert, which they are working hard on preparing in their music classes. The evening will also feature scripture readings, a living nativity, and time for prayer in preparation for the coming of Christmas.

In order to help plan and prepare for the event, we are asking families to RSVP at the link here no later than Wednesday, November 9th.

Thank you so much, and we look forward to seeing you at this wonderful event amidst the Advent season!

Don't forget to keep scrolling below for photos and more information! Have a great weekend! God bless, and Go Saints!

Sincerely,

Mr. Peloquin
