Tustumena Elementary Newsletter
January 20, 2016
Hello to Tustumena Families,
Instructionally, this is the best time of the year. We have the fewest interruptions in our schedule and everyone pretty much knows the routines. So it is full steam ahead. I will be meeting with each 4-6 grade student individually within the next week or two about their progress in Math. Tustumena students perform relatively high in Math, but not as well as they do with Language Arts, so I focus my individual time with students on this subject. The fifth graders have already met with me so they know how they are doing as compared to other fifth graders in the nation, what their goal for the end of the year should be, and how much they have progressed toward that goal. Please visit with your 4-6th grader about the meeting they had with me.
It is already time for us to be thinking about next year. Our pre-k and kindergarten registration will begin next week. Please contact our school if you have students going into either grade level.
I hope everyone is enjoying our winter weather and the extra daylight we are getting already.
Best Wishes,
Doug Hayman
