Quality learning for all in a caring community.
Kounga ako mo katoa i roto i te taiao e atawhai ana.
Dear parents and friends of our school Kia Ora/Bora Da/Hello
Kia ora Koutou
We are nearing the end of one of the most memorable and challenging terms in the history of New Zealand schools. While ‘Zoom’, ‘Chat’ and ‘Mute all’ are not daily learning tools anymore, we know that we have the capability to teach and learn online if required. I would like to once again thank our staff and families for the amazing support extended to our students throughout the first half of this year. An incredible amount of energy, commitment and flexibility went into providing opportunities that enhanced wellbeing, and at the same time focused on the key learning areas. We look forward to seeing what the second half of the year presents us! Routines are back in place and teachers and teacher aides are working hard to ensure programmes are engaging and extending the children. We look forward to maintaining this momentum after the holidays. Our students have shown an extraordinary amount of resilience upon return to school and have coped well with the length of the term, but are now showing a readiness for a break.

LEARNING JOURNEYS
Learning Journey Conferences which include whanau, child and teacher will take place the following week from Monday 27th July through to Tuesday 28th July.
The main focus for our mid year child/parents/teacher conferences is your child's wellbeing and how they have transitioned back into school. Your child and their teacher will share aspects of their learning that they are focussing on currently. Teachers will not be sharing up to date assessments because this has not been the focus upon our return to school. However we can certainly discuss how your child is tracking in terms of progress. If you have any further queries and or questions please do not hesitate to contact your child's classroom teacher. We look forward to catching up with you all!!!
Interviews start at 1.00pm. If you are in a position to be able to pick your child up from school at this time we would appreciate it.

Year 6-8 Technology
We are on the hunt for any spare pots, small plates, cutlery and cereal bowls that could be donated to theY6-8 food tech rotations. We are also on the hunt for a colander and a rice cooker if anyone has one that is redundant in their household.
We would also love parent help to support Kathy take our cooking rotation every second Wednesday ( beginning week 2 Term 3). If you are available to help us with this please let Shelley, Jane or Kathy know
We are also on the hunt for outgrown small figurines, animals, cars, lego etc that we can use to put together a stop motion kit ( similar to the size of the happy meal toys).
LIBRARY BOOKS
We would really like to encourage you to keep your children reading over the holidays! As a result we will once again open the library up next week for families to come in and issue out 10 books to have at home over the holidays. The library will be open for families from Monday 29th June to Thursday 2nd July from 8.20am to 8.50am and from 3.00pm - 3.20pm. We would really love to see Mum’s or Dad’s coming into the library with their children to select their 10 books. We will also be requiring all children to keep a reading log over the holidays. The teachers will go over this with the children and they will receive their log on the last day of the term. Reading Logs and holiday library books will need to be returned to school on the first day back after the holidays. If every child reads, or was read to, for 15 minutes each dayX7 days = 105 minutes 2 weeks holiday = 210 minutes per child (31/2 hours of reading time) - WOW! We look forward to seeing you next week in the library selecting books with your children.
