The Manning Weekly Newsletter
September 19, 2019
Dear Families,
As many of you know, the passage of the bond in the last election has made it possible for us to build an addition that will add much needed square footage, classrooms and flexible spaces to Manning. This week, we were able to begin our Design Advisory Group process-- staff members, parents and I met with our architects to begin a conversation about what additional facilities our school needs to best serve our students. We are excited to be in the beginnings of this discussion, and we are excited to see what our addition will ultimately be. It is scheduled to be ready for students and staff in the fall of 2021.
I promise to keep you updated as this process moves forward with the kinds of decisions we make, and I may be requesting your feedback along the way. I am thrilled that the architects are going to work with some of our students to get their ideas about what their school should and could be.
I hope you all have a wonderful long weekend, and thanks, as always, for sharing your kids with us. It is our honor to serve them.

REFLECTIONS 2019-20 – “LOOK WITHIN”
Does your child have an interest in writing, producing films, or taking photos? Or do they enjoy drawing, painting, writing your own music, or choreographing dance? Then join us and have fun unleashing their inner artist with the PTA Reflections contest! The competition starts within our own school, and then they have the chance to compete against other students in the district, state and nationally.
This year’s theme, “Look Within,” calls for your own unique interpretation through the arts. Categories include Visual Arts, Photography, Music Composition, Film Production, Dance Choreography and Literature.
Students can pick up entry forms and rules from the Manning front office starting Monday, September 16. You can also visit the Manning PTA Website for more information, and/or download official program rules, submission guidelines, and entry forms on the Jeffco PTA website (http://www.jcpta.org/programs/reflections/reflections-students/).
Final deadline for Manning School entries is Wednesday, October 23. Manning Reflections representatives will be at the front of the school in the morning and afternoon of October 23 to accept student entries. Judging will take place the following week, with winners exhibited at the Manning Fall Fest – Chili Cook-off & Silent Auction on Friday, November 1.

At Manning, we strive to live our core values every day.
HONESTY
Jocelyn Tran was being honest about her opinion and was a great friend.
Addison Helms was being honest, when she was asking for help on her math. Addison was struggling with something in math and she asked her friends in access for help. She asked for them to go over something and explain it to her to help her understand. It was awesome how she was not afraid to admit she didn't something and she did something about it! Good job Addison.
EFFORT
Sophie Bassin is always a exited and kind. She welcomed me into her friend group and has made school so much easier.
I nominate to Matthew for reading to stay in the lead for our HEART reading competition.
In choir, Hunter tried and tried to get this song that we are singing.
"Shake and Bake" always does his best in school and in sports. Great job Shake and Bake!
I was absent and Mrs. McLeod helped me get caught up.
I think Jordan Beecher shows lots of effort in student council. She is always willing to do extra work and is constantly volunteering. Jordan always gives it her all and is enjoyable to be around. She is a strong leader and is not afraid to share, or be a front seat driver.
Maddie Weiser is president of student council and she is doing a great job. She does lots of work outside of school and is a very strong role model. She shows effort by keeping student council organized and working with her classmates very well. Maddie is one of the strongest most kind leaders I know.
Estrella made effort to be a good friend.
Cameron O'Donnell made an effort to ask me how me and my family were doing when we had some hard things going on. She can always lift my spirits.
I think it was really cool how Julia Kaufholz was putting so much effort into getting a perfect score on her math test. She studied extra hard and did extra studying outside of the required review. She is passionate about doing her best and she is not afraid to do extra work to get a good grade. Keep up the good work Julia.
Adan Marquez helped younger kids.
Jack Sanders loved playing the percussion, but he had to change to tuba. He got through it and now is a great tuba player.
When I lost my glasses, Margaux Dempsey, Sophie Wong, and Dora Rubin all offered to help and carried through.
ACHIEVEMENT
I just want to give Mrs.Mendez a quick shoutout for all that she is doing this year. Teaching 7 periods a day must be super hard and I know it is tiring. She is doing a great job and is definitely one of my favorite teachers. Keep up the good work!!!
Nolan really likes to read, and so he read 5 books, 450 page each in the past few weeks.
RESPECT
Drew Crane is always kind. She is never rude, and if someone falls, she will pick them right back up, even if the person is a total stranger.
Mrs. Burg helps me out every day. She explains things a second time if I didn't understand. She respects all her students and is very kind to us.
Nathan Ziv is always nice and he is helpful in class, he isn't afraid to tell people on their flaws about their work but he helps them fix it.
Mrs. Gaines is always super helpful and nice in the morning before I go to maple grove to TA and she always has a smile and is super easy to talk to.
Ella Yancey is such a respectful friend. She respects all of your thoughts and ideas. She is very relatable and easy to talk to. Luv ya, Ella!
At the end of the day a girl was walking in the hallway and dropped all of her stuff. I saw Sofia Elola kindly help and pick it up!
TEAMWORK
Levi Smith helped me during access with my music homework when I was struggling.
Sofia Elola lent me her protractor when I forgot mine at my locker. She also helped me with my homework that included the protractor.
Katya Paden is always kind and works great in groups. She is never rude, and she would never lie.
Hannah helps me with my locker when it's jammed.
Bella DeLisa walks with me to my heart time and choir and she always starts my week with a positive light she's really sweet and she puts others first and she makes everyone's day special.
Julia helped me when I forgot where something was on the Manning home page. She told me where it was and I thanked her.
Mrs. Zamora helps students every day with anything they don't understand. She realizes that everyone has a life outside of school and makes me feel more confident about math.
Avery Bard is always helping me when I need help and always being my friend and never leaving me out
Ava Ramos has been a really great friend to support me through hardships.
Sophie Sarbrow helped me in choir when I didn't understand the material we were learning.
Peter Lasell saw a person that didn't have a group to work with and took the initiative to invite that person into his group
Jackson Hughes, Leif Hanson, Charlie Lasell showed great empathy when they saw that a person was without a group to work with. The took initiative and invited the person to join their group.
When I was working on my homework and was alone Kaylee Gill waved hi and made sure I didn’t feel alone. She made me smile and that was a great way to end the day.
Every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday Clara Melancon waits for me at my locker so that we can walk to ELA together. Every time this makes me smile, or if I am having a bad day then it's the highlight to my day.
