Texas Public Schools Week
Howard Hicks Elementary is celebrating Texas Public Schools Week February 23 - March 2. This week is a time for highlighting the importance and success of public education. We have lots of activities planned. Come join us for the Hoe Down, breakfast, lunch, and/or Open House! The Family Center is also open daily from 8:00-12:00.
All visitors during the school day must be listed on the child's enrollment card or be accompanied by a parent and must bring a current picture ID.
Breakfast is open daily during this week from 7:20 - 7:50 a.m. for grades K-4 and from 8:00-8:25 a.m. for pre-kindergarten.

- KN 11:00-11:30 Mon. or Tues.
- 1st 10:30-11:00 Tues. or Wed.
- 2nd 12:00-12:30 Tues. or Wed.
- 3rd 12:00-12:30 Thurs. or Fri.
- 4th 11:30-12:00 Thurs. or Fri.
- PK 1:00-1:20 Tues. or Fri.
Note: 3rd and 4th graders will be taking practice STAAR assessments on Tuesday and Wednesday. They will have adjusted schedules. We will not be able to accommodate lunch visitors for 3rd and 4th on those days.

Open House
Parents are invited to attend Open House on Thursday, March 1st from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m.

Read Across America Day
Friday, March 2 is Dr. Seuss's birthday! Schools across America celebrate his birthday with events that promote reading and literacy. At Hicks Elementary, students may select a children's book and come to school dressed up as a character from that book. We will have guest readers in classrooms. Student pictures with the Cat in the Hat will be available for purchase.
