Happy Thanksgiving, CES Families & Friends,
We want to wish all of our families an enjoyable Thanksgiving break with family and friends (no school Nov 25-29). We also want to thank all of our families for being a part of our Chester Elementary community.
High School Mentors & Chester football. We have been so excited to see the success of these young men on the field. Off the field, we have enjoyed the team visiting us each Thursday and mentoring some of our students. It has been a big success and we are thankful for these student athletes volunteering some of their time to mentor our young people. These guys are quality young men. Additionally, we have some outstanding female CJHS students who are also mentoring our students. Thanks so much CJHS students! We appreciate you! Go Vols!
Attendance. We've been averaging around 95% of our students in class each day, and this is improving. We appreciate our families striving to make sure their child misses no more than 9 days for the school year (= 95% attendance). As a note, even if a child is in attendance for the first 15 minutes, they are counted as present for the day. Thanks for your efforts in helping us reach our goal.
Parent Community Forum. December 2, 4:30-5:15 in Room 17 (front modular) we want to welcome any parents who wish to learn more about our behavioral standards and other resources we use to support students struggling with behavioral or emotional challenges. Send us a note if you would like to learn more. Thanks!
Reading each night? 20 minutes/night. Send me your pictures and your favorite books and we'll put them in an upcoming newsletter! Check out the article (link below) about how parents can encourage their child to read. There's some great ideas, like setting an early bedtime for our children, and allowing them 15-30 additional minutes with the light on if they are reading in bed. Click on the link below.
Chester Elementary PTA. Please click on the link below to learn more about the many benefits of PTA, and consider joining by visiting the office to pick up a form. Cost is only $6.
In closing, we appreciate your ongoing support and teaming with us to make 2019-2020 an exceptional elementary experience for our students. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks!
