PlayStation has a variety of elements that make it up. Some specific elements that make up the main base of the PlayStation are Aluminum, copper, gold, and Zinc. Specifically, Aluminum is used for the manufacturing of the controller. The PlayStation controller has many parts to it but aluminum helps the company design the skeleton or base of the controller. This inner base of the controller holds in all the electronic chips and the speaker found inside this controller. Second , copper which is used to conduct electricity into the ps4 s power brick. Without the copper's conducting skill, electricity cannot be passed into the power brick which powers the entire console. The power brick is responsible for powering the cooling fan in the PlayStation ,all communication chips and charging the controller with the system. Third, gold which is actually used for some of the special edition playstations manufactured. Specifically these PlayStation's top plastic layer which covers the hard drive and cooling fan is made purely out of gold. Company's make more money selling these special edition ones as gold is a rare type of metal and a very expensive one. Finally Zinc as it is used to produce screws, bolts and nuts for the PlayStation to hold all its parts together. To be exact, the male threads mated with screws are tapped in Zinc cast panels. Throughout its structure, the PlayStation uses 94 screws 59 self-tapping screws, 6 hex nuts and one clinch standoff. As you can tell Zinc is a very important metal as it is used to make sure the PlayStation is held together.

Where these Metals are found:

Aluminum

Aluminum is mainly found in the nations of Australia, Brazil and Jamaica. Aluminum is the most profuse metallic part in the earths crust. Due to its strong similarity to Oxygen, Aluminium does not occur in nature in its pure rudimentary state and is found in joint forms such as oxides and silicates. In order to produce a pure metal a decrease reaction must take place. Aluminum is crushed dried and ground in special mills where it is mixed with a small amount of water. This process produces a thick paste that is collected in special containers and heated with steam to remove silicon present in the aluminum.

Copper

Some big mining industry's for copper are located in Arizona, Michigan, New Mexico and Montana. Mining for copper is done the traditional way which is going underground by making tunnels. Its done by sinking a vertical shaft into the Earth to an appropriate depth and driving horizontal tunnels into the ore.

Gold

Gold is retrieved by metal detecting, panning, cradling, sluicing and dredging. Using gravity and water to separate the dense gold from the other materials that surround it, this is the most common gold mining. Hard rock mining is the process of using open pit or underground mining tunnels to retrieve the gold from the rock. This method of gold mining is responsible for recovering most of the worlds gold supply. Gold can be found in every continent on Earth, except Antarctica. The biggest amounts of gold on Earth are found in the oceans - but it is not easy to extract gold from seawater. Gold is found all over the world including Canada, the United States, South Africa, Russia, Peru, China, Australia etc.

Zinc

The Zinc mining process is mostly conducted underground, with more than 80% of all Zinc extracted beneath the earths surface. Eight percent of the worlds zinc mined is in open pits, with remaining 12 percent being mined through both methods. Zinc mines are found in 50 countries around the world in which the largest producers are Canada, Australia, Ireland, and Namibia.

Platinum

Platinum is a rare transition metal of the few known South Africa and Russia are by far the largest producers. There are fewer than ten significant pgm mining companies in the world. Platinum and palladium have the greatest economic importance and are found in the largest quantities.Platinum in its raw state is very rare and is one of the more costly of the precious metals. Miners use handheld pneumatic drills to create holes in the reef into which explosives can be loaded. After the ore is released through blasting, it is removed using scrapers attached to wenches and transported to the surface. This how Platinum is extracted and later on created into its original metal form.

Physical and Chemical properties of an element

One of elements that is found in a PlayStation is Zinc. I will be explaining what Physical and Chemical properties this element has and how it is suitable to this device. Firstly, some Physical properties that Zinc has are a blush-white, lustrous metal appearance. Also, it is hard and brittle with most temperatures but becomes malleable between 100 and 150 degrees Celsius. Zinc has low density compared to other metals such as iron and is a fair conductor of electricity. Moving on to chemical properties, Zinc is a fairly reactive metal that will combine with oxygen and other non-metals, and will react with dilute acids to release hydrogen. Next, its reaction with acid is it dissolves slowly in dilute sulphuric acid to form solutions. A important fact for Zinc is that it will not dissolve in water but will with acid to create two or more substances. Lastly, Zincs reaction with air. Specifically this results to Zinc metal tarnishing in moist air as it burns to form the white zinc oxide. To be exact Zinc is suitable for PlayStation as it has properties that can work good in the console. Zinc is needed to make screws and bolts so if its hard and brittle with most temperatures everything can hold together. The bolts and screws are not really going to be tested as much and they wont be needed to conduct any electricity or reactions with different substances.

Is The PlayStation Recyclable?

After the PlayStation has been used up and someone wants to get rid off it or upgrade to next gen it is recycled. The process to properly dispose these consoles is recycling programs take these and the tiny metal pieces within can be reused for other consoles, phones, medical technology, and so on. Therefore, it’s a waste to simply send it off to a landfill. Some recycling programs will even compensate for you making the effort to bring your electronic device to them. This means that even after a console fails, it’s still worth something.
