Any interested junior or senior students should sign up in the school counseling office and get a pass from Mrs. Malavasi. Athletics News
The varsity football team won their first ever game against Valley Regional/LOL co-op on Saturday by a score of 39-14. Their season record is now 2-1.
The varsity volleyball team had a 3-0 week with wins over Morgan, Valley Regional and Coginchaug. Both matches against Velley and Coginchaug went 5 sets. The team’s season record now stands at 6-1 and they have won 6 straight matches.
The JV volleyball team went 1-2 this past week with a win over Valley Regional and loses to Morgan and Coginchaug. Their record is now 2-5.
The girls varsity soccer team went 1-2 this past week with a win over Westbrook and loses to Cromwell and HK. Their record is 3-2-1 on the season.
The JV girls soccer team played just once this past week tying HK 0-0. Their season record is now 1-1-1.
The boys varsity soccer team played twice this past week tying both Westbrook 0-0 and Cromwell 1-1. Their season record now stands at 2-2-2.
The boys JV soccer team beat Westbrook 4-1 and tied Cromwell 1-1 this past week. Their season record is now 3-1-1.
The boys cross country team ran in two races this past week finishing first and second respectively at the Shoreline Conference Small School meet and the Bellringer Invitational. Senior Jake Ireland continued his good form finishing first and second in races this week,
The girls cross country team also ran in two races this past week winning both at the Shoreline Conference Small School meet and the Bellringer Invitational. Senior Liv DiStefano continued her strong season with 2 first place finishes.
Math Department News
In Geometry students used 12 straws and 12 inches of tape to build an apparatus that would catch and contain a golf ball when dropped from shoulder height. Students had to persevere and work collaboratively to revise their plans until a satisfactory apparatus was constructed. Students reflected upon the mathematical concepts used and how all of the core values of East Hampton High School were incorporated into this task.
Trigonometry students in Mrs. Banack’s class investigated the relationship of one radian to the arc length of a circle through an outdoor chalk activity.
Science Department News
In the Science Department, Chemistry classes explored how chemistry can help you clean. Students ran an experiment where they tried a number of different cleaning treatments on chocolate , coffee, ink, and grease stains. This was students first experiment of the year, and moving forward they will learn about bonding and the properties of materials to further understand how cleaning works.
Technology Education News
Students in Architecture class have been researching and building models of early architecture from different civilizations. Below are some examples of the projects that they created.
