Integration: Putting It All Together to Make Schools Smarter
More than four million U.S. K-12 students were enrolled in formal online learning programs in 2011, which shows a shift from a traditional learning model to a blended learning approach. Providing a blended learning format can extend student learning time beyond the school day, be more cost effective, give opportunities for collaboration outside the school walls, and provides a personalized learning experience. Vander Ark predicts that at least two-thirds of students will be doing the majority of their learning online by 2020 and questions how education policy in the U.S. will either "pave the way" or "stand in the way".
