Dear CRES Parents,

I have some fantastic news! In late fall, the HSE Elementary Principals joined together to request financial assistance with purchasing reading benchmark assessment kits.

Currently at our schools, numerous reading assessment materials are being used to help teachers identify behaviors a reader is exhibiting so instruction can be focused and support student growth. Using various assessments, can make conversation between buildings and teachers, as well as among parents, difficult due to a lack of common literacy language.

I am thrilled to announce, the Hamilton Southeastern Schools Foundation has ensured that a literacy benchmarking kit is available for each grade at all 12 of our local elementary schools. In addition, the Foundation has provided funding for professional development for teachers using these new materials.

I understand that the kits will be distributed and available for use here at CRES this Spring! Please join me in thanking HSSF for their support of every student, every school and for helping us all "get on the same page" regarding literacy assessments and language.

Kind regards,

Lisa Lederach

Hamilton Southeastern Schools Foundation Dollars for Seniors scholarship telethon

Dollars for Seniors Approaches

Local college-bound high school seniors will be picking up the phones during the first two weeks of February for the annual Dollars for Seniors scholarship telethon. Each senior learns a bit about philanthropy and the impact it can have on local students, teachers, and schools. Students then apply that information to raise funds for scholarships. This flagship event, hosted by the Hamilton Southeastern Schools Foundation, helps to ensure more than 125 local seniors receive financial assistance in pursuing their education goals. That represents nearly 10% of the graduating class! If you receive a call this February, please consider making a student’s day with a pledge of your own. More information available at

Congratulations to Mr. Miller for winning the Girl Scout Cookie Eating Contest at our Cookie Rally for the Fishers Service Unit. And he made it look easy! They were so excited that their teacher won this year! On top of that, Mr. Greiwe came in 2nd in the popularity contest and you can see why CRES has something to celebrate. Wahoo! Way to go Mr. Miller & Mr. Greiwe!

Each Valentine's Day Collection sheet you return by Friday, February 20th enters you into a chance to win a super SWEET Movie Night prize AND earns CRES PTO $1. Don't forget to include both your child's name and teacher's name.

The students at CRES have started a project for Riley Hospital/Ronald McDonald House. Our goal is to collect one million pop tabs! (one pound= 1000 pop tabs) Water jugs have been placed in all five grade levels-4th, 3rd, 2nd, 1st and Kindergarten/Early Childhood. Please send your pop tabs from aluminum cans in a box or bag with your child any day to school. Ask your neighbors and relatives to save them too! We are proud that CRES is helping to ‘pick up the tab’ for needed funds to support Indiana’s only “home away from home” for families of seriously ill or injured children receiving treatment.

To many, a pop tab is just a piece of aluminum with one purpose – to open a can. But to the Ronald McDonald House of Indiana, the pop tab is a valuable resource. Why? Collected pop tabs are recycled, generating much-needed funds to support the House and the nearly 1,900 families they serve each year.

Collecting tabs is a great way for all of us to really make a difference in lives of families and children in need-not to mention learning about the importance of recycling. THANK YOU for your support.
