Dear Parents / Carers,
Welcome back, I hope you all had a lovely half term. This week we have been very busy as always and the children have settled straight back into their learning. The Friends of Kirk Fenton are working hard planning for the Christmas Fair which will be held after school on 9th December this year. If you have any raffle prizes to donate or would like to volunteer your time either beforehand or on the evening itself, please let school know and we will put you in touch with one of the committee.
Thank you to the parents that attended this week's coffee morning and also the open classrooms this afternoon. It is always good to be able to have the time put aside to listen to parents' views on the school informally. The next coffee morning will be on Friday 6th January 2023 and will have a focus on mental health and wellbeing and the next open classrooms will be on Friday 3rd March 2023.
Have a lovely weekend,
Mrs Karen Williams

Winning Team
Our KS2 certificates were awarded to Brooke T and Jacob M - well done! Remember that times tables are very important and we need to make sure that we are practising them at home. It would be great to see people practising ready for the England Rocks competition on the 14th November.
Well done to our youngest children in the school who have been working hard on their maths at home during half term and this week. Our Numbots superstars are Holly S, Jacob P, Bertie J, Toby M, Dari D, Hugo O and Willow H. Well done everyone!
England Rocks
We're celebrating Maths Week England by taking part in a friendly times tables (and division) competition. The competition runs from 07:30 GMT Monday 14th November to 19:30 GMT Wednesday 16th November. It's all done online via play.ttrockstars.com.
Children can play in any gamemode with every correct answer to a multiplication or division question, earning themselves, their class and the school a point. The Times Tables Rock Stars platform will calculate the class average (the number of correct answers per pupil in the class who play during the competition hours, subject to a daily 60-minute limit (see below)). Winning classes in the school and in the competition as a whole will be the ones with the highest average.
To support player wellbeing, there is a daily time limit of 60-minutes per player. In other words, each player can earn competition points for up to 60-minutes between 07:30 GMT and 19:30 GMT on 07:30 GMT Monday 14th November to 19:30 GMT Wednesday 16th November. Once the player goes beyond 60-minutes of play on that day, they will still earn coins but will no longer earn points towards the competition.
In the spirit of the competition, please don't play on their behalf but by all means encourage and support them to the extent that it doesn't cause high stress levels or impact on family plans.
Message from Head Pupils
This week has been very calm as it is the first week back and we are pleased to see everyone back and excited for a new term. Just a reminder to put your team points on, blues are in the lead with three wins, purple in second with two wins and orange and green tied with one win each. We hope to see more points on the board!! We hope everyone has a lovely weekend and comes back refreshed and ready to learn.

With Christmas on the way, there are lots of exciting updates to share this week……..
Christmas Fair
Save the date for the Christmas Fair, Friday 9th December, the fair will be open from 2:45pm for Reception and Y1, and from 3:15pm – 5pm for the rest of the school. We have games rooms, crafts rooms, an amazing raffle and maybe even a visit from the big man himself.
Raffle tickets and booking forms for Stories with Santa will be coming home in the next few weeks. We have some fantastic raffle prizes this year, follow our Facebook page as we announce a new prize every day.
There will be a non-uniform day on Monday 5th December, rather than paying £1, we are asking for donation for the chocolate tombola instead.
Volunteers are still needed for the Christmas Fair. Please do contact us if you can support on the day in any way.
Other festive fun
Christmas cards are back this year! And the children have designed some fantastic cards – order forms should be coming home in school bags next week with all the details you need to order.
We’ll also be holding a ‘design your own’ competition again in December this year, with the design for Christmas baubles, and some lovely, personalised baubles for the winners.
And finally, we’ll be serving drinks and festive treats at the school Christmas performances, so don’t forget to bring some money to get in the spirit.
