Covington Connection

August 6th, 2021

Welcome Back!

It is my pleasure to welcome all of you to what I know will be another great year at Covington Elementary School! We are excited to welcome our students back in our classrooms and hallways and filling our building with learning and excitement!

Additionally, welcome to all of our families. We know that in order to provide the best education for each of our students, it is important to work together as a team, both staff and families. We have upcoming events, such as Open House, where we would love to see as many of our families as possible. We will have events throughout the year to help build our students both academically as well as socially. And lastly, we always focus on communication because we all know that we have the same goal - to do what is best for each of our students.

We are Covington Community. And we are here for each other.

Welcome back!

First Day of School

The first day of school for all of our Grade 1-5 students is on Wednesday, August 18th. Please note that this is an Early Dismissal day with students being released at 11:30 A.M. The following day, Thursday, August 19th, will be the first full day of students in Grades 1-5.

Incoming Kindergarten students will begin with a full day on Friday, August 20th.

Health and Safety Protocols

Throughout this entire planning process, we have made it a point to prioritize the health and safety of all of the members of our Covington Community. In order to assure this, we will be making it a point to have scheduled times so that students are washing their hands a minimum of four times per day. In order to minimize the amount of interaction between individuals, we have taken measures such as having scheduled washroom breaks for classes and practicing social distancing throughout the school building.

Additionally, masks are to be worn in our buildings at all times with the exception of while the students are eating lunch. Please take time to talk to your students about the importance of wearing a mask and how it should be properly worn. Take some time over the upcoming weeks practicing to wear it especially for longer periods of time. With that, we intend on using our outdoor spaces as much as possible for lunch, recess, or other breaks so that students can take their masks off while socially distancing when weather permits.

Covington Connection

We will continue to send out the Covington Connection each Tuesday afternoon. Our first Covington Connection will be shared out on Tuesday, August 24th. This will be a place that we will be sharing upcoming events, information about what is happening in school, and other related information.
