The Things We Have...
Dr. Seuss has always had a way of teaching us things that stick with us. Almost as much as the thanksgiving desserts stick with us after that bountiful dinner we have at the end of November. In "Did I Ever Tell You How Lucky You Are?", Dr. Seuss reminds us of the way we should look at life. The narrator utters a sentence that puts things in perspective.
"You oughta be thankful
A whole heaping lot
For the people and places
You're lucky you're not."
Thanksgiving season comes into full swing with this Dr. Seuss phrase as we honor our nation's Veterans on November 11th. The two days go hand in hand. After all..
"Thanksgiving is a day when we pause to give thanks for the things we have.
Veterans Day is when we pause to give thanks to the people who fought for
the things we have. " ~unknown
Without these service members we wouldn't be lucky, we just simply would not. So for the people, the places and the things that we have, we are thankful. So very thankful....a whole heaping lot.

Beat the Bugs
- Go for a walk! Exercise and fresh oxygen help our bodies stay strong to fight off those pesky bugs.
- Wash hands with soap and water (the more bubbles the better!)
- Use the inside of your elbow or a tissue to cover your mouth and nose when you sneeze or cough
- Stay away from sick people (Pass paper airplanes instead!)
- Get a Flu Vaccine
The Arkansas Department of Health is offering Mass Flu Clinics across the state. Click here for a link to the listing of clinics by county.

Doodle 4 Google Contest: What Makes Me...ME
THIS YEAR'S CONTEST IS NOW OPEN
From cave paintings to selfies, artists have always found creative ways of expressing themselves. Now, with the Google homepage as their canvas, we’re asking students to do the same. Young artists can doodle with any materials to show what makes them unique, and the winner’s artwork will be featured on Google's homepage for a day.
This is not a school-sanctioned contest but one that our students may find interesting.
