WELCOME BULLDOGS! 🐾
On behalf of the entire Bellerose Staff, we hope that everyone is enjoying their well-earned summer break and are starting to look forward to an exciting 2022-2023 school year.
For all of our new Bulldogs, welcome to the Bellerose Family! Bellerose is such a fantastic place to belong and we look forward to meeting you and welcoming you into our Bellerose Family. Bellerose offers a strong variety of programs, activities, and opportunities for students to get involved in their learning and their community. Our student and leadership teams will be hosting a Week of Welcome that will include a Team and Clubs Fair on Friday September 2nd over the lunch hour. Please take some time to explore what Bellerose has to offer you!
At Bellerose, we value our focus on inclusivity! An integral part of our school identity has always been celebrating the different strengths and interests of our students. This focus is reflected in the diverse programming our school offers. Bellerose continues to build upon and create great programs and traditions in all academic areas, as well as showcase first class programs and events, such as our Musical Theatre production, Bikeathon, the International Baccalaureate Programme, our Inclusive Education programs, fine arts shows, Athletics, Physical Education and Health Pathway programs, Student Leadership teams, and CTS. We look forward to you joining us in the variety of activities and events that will highlight your high school memories and support many worthwhile community initiatives.
Enjoy the rest of your summer and we look forward to seeing you all in September!

2022-2023 Timetables
Grade 11 & 12 timetables were made available for students to pick up during the last week of June. Students who are new to our school including our incoming Grade 10’s will have their timetables mailed to individual homes throughout the first week of July.
Timetables will also be available on the Parent and Student PowerSchool Portals after August 15th.
For various reasons, you may need to alter the courses that are currently assigned on your timetable. Students can access our Student Services team to discuss timetable changes based on the following schedule:

In September, your timetable may change even if you did not request a change. If this is the case, you should find that the courses are the same, but where they are placed on your schedule is different. These changes are a result of the need to balance class sizes, changes to teaching assignments or the addition of sections of a course to the school schedule.

PowerSchool
Parents/Guardians, you are able to access your child’s marks, attendance and fees using your PowerSchool ParentPortal login. Grade 10 parents and new students to Bellerose will be receiving their login information in the mail. If you have more than one child attending school in our District, you will be able to view each of your children through the same login. If you have difficulty accessing your PowerSchool ParentPortal Account please contact bellerose@spschools.org after August 22nd.

Student Attendance
Regular attendance is vital to a student's academic success and is a key factor in a students ability to have strong connection to all aspects of classroom and school learning. This is particularly important in the fast paced semesters of high school.
If you know that your student will be late or absence from class, we ask that you notify the school with a brief message at br.absences@spschools.org or 780.460.8490
For any absences that are unexcused, an automated phone system contacts the home between 4-9pm when a student has missed a class. If you are unaware of the absence, you are encouraged to speak to your student and contact the school if you require follow up action.

School Fees
School fees will be posted to your student’s account starting in October. Parents will be able to view and pay school fees on the PowerSchool ParentPortal.
Parking
Parents, please do not drop or pick up students in the school parking lots. We are concerned for the safety of our students and staff. Please, instead, drop students off in the bus lane in front of the school (the buses are typically using the lane only between 7.30-7.40am).
STUDENT PARKING is in the WEST LOT ONLY. Student parking is not permitted in the East lot, which is for Staff & Visitor parking only. Parents are also reminded that the East lot (where the Bellerose sign is located) is the staff parking lot and every parking space, other than the ones designated ‘Visitor,’ are allocated to staff members. Please refrain from parking in staff parking stalls.
Parking pass applications will be available online through the PowerSchool Parent portal following the Grade-level assemblies in September.
Students are expected to maintain safe and appropriate judgement when using the parking lot. Inappropriate use or inappropriate behaviour in parking areas will be reported to the RCMP, and may result in the removal of your parking pass. Please note that student vehicles are parked at YOUR OWN RISK.

Insurance & Waiver Forms
Staff members/coaches are required by District Policy to have Waiver Forms completed and signed for student activities/athletics. From time to time, please expect that your son/daughter will require a waiver form be signed and returned to the school to allow participation in an activity/event. Your cooperation is appreciated in ensuring that waiver forms are returned as quickly as possible. It is also recommended by the district that students carry Student Accident Insurance, particularly if the student is involved in activities and athletics. INDUSTRIAL ALLIANCE PACIFIC INSURANCE FORMS can be found and applied for online.
