In Case You Missed It:
You probably got a message about North Carolina Teacher Working Conditions Survey opeing up on Friday, March 1. Nejla deLambert is our person at SanLee that received the codes. She will be giving us instructions and allowing us to fill out during our UnMeeting. Anyone not at the meeting due to athletic practice or being absence will need to follow up with Nejla ASAP. We are asked to have 100% participation to ensure all educators voices are heard. The window closes at the end of March.
Administration and counselors decided to go room to room to remind our children about several things; dress code, cell phone, ear buds, hoodies, hands off, and being respectful to teachers. We also shared that we must take all threats seriously, so mean what you say. All threats to hurt someone or yourself will be investigated. We cannot and will not determine if something is a joke, so words will be taken literally. We also stressed the importance for students to report threats of violence and/or knowledge of possible harm. Our counselors did a great job distinguishing the difference between snitching/tattling and reporting. I believe the time was well spent and appreciate the core classrooms for allowing us to come in. Let me remind you how extremely important it is for you to report any type of threat. If you hear chatter that kids are threatening to fight or anything that can cause harm to any of our students (suicide, self-harm, harm to others), YOU MUST REPORT this immediately. Do not wait. Call the front office, counselors, or an administrator. These are NOT things that should be put in an email, in a counselor request, or a voicemail that may not be read or heard until later. If you have knowledge share it verbally immediately.
Suzanne Rukowski and Brianna Simmons are busy making plans for this year's field day which will take place at the end of April. Our PTSO has agreed to purchase shirts for our staff. Thank you to everyone that has filled out the Field Day t-shirt spreadsheet. If you do not fill it out, you will not get a shirt! Homeroom teachers, don't forget to include students that go to Mrs. Black in your count!
