We want to say a special thank you to Ms. Marseille and Mr. Anderson who are leaving our school to pursue new and exciting opportunities. We hope you will join us in wishing them well and we feel blessed by their service at Holy Rosary. Ms. Donoso is coming to us from another school in the Seattle Archdiocese and has a strong background in (and love of science). I will have more info on her in an upcoming Smore issue. We are very excited to welcome her to the team, though. It is going to be a great 2019-20!

There is a LOT of important info in this newsletter, so please scroll all the way through. Thanks!!

Blessings,

Thank You!

A special thank you to Jeff Klein and Greg Klein for getting us access to 75 refurbished laptops from the GSA. This is fantastic news so that we can focus Ipads in the younger grades and laptops in the older grades.

School Calendar

Thank you for your input on the start date and Easter vacation dates for the 2019-20 calendar. We had many responses and the overwhelming results were in support of:

  • Starting after Labor Day
  • Taking Easter Vacation with Tacoma Public School

We have included a copy of next year's calendar in the envelopes for this week. Let us know if you see any errors!

Parent Service Committee

Thank you so much for your responses with respect to the PSC and the time/day of our meetings. We received 62 responses on the survey! Many people voiced interest in being able to attend an evening meeting. Because of this, we will give it a try in April. Our April meeting will be held on April 4th from 6 pm - 7 pm. We hope you can join us!

Alice in Wonderland

The school is excited to announce that we have the Missoula Children’s Theater coming to our school to work with the students (K-8th) on a production of Alice in Wonderland. This will be an intensive week long production. Two professional actors will be coaching the students and will provide two workshops during the week for the entire school. The cost to participate will be $50 due May 1st. Forms to participate will be provided.

Please save these dates if you are interested in participating.

  • Practices will be from 3pm-5pm and 5:15pm -7:15pm, May 13-May 17th. Not all students will be needed at both practices.

  • Performances will be on Friday evening, May 17th at 6:30pm and Saturday, May 18th at 3pm. Students will need to arrive by 1:30pm for the Saturday performance.

VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We need volunteers.

  • Two host families to host each actor from May 12th – May 19th. The only requirement is that they have their own room. However, one of the actors is allergic to cats.

  • 1 or 2 parents to help during the practices to make sure the students are in the correct location. Sign up will be provided for each session.

Please contact Amanda Schweickert, amanda.p.schweickert@gmail.com or Claudia Klein,carmen-klein@hotmail.com to volunteer.

Touching Safety

In the next couple of weeks, students in kindergarten through grade eight will be having their second and final Touching Safety class of the year. Each year, we do one lesson in the fall and one in the spring. These lessons are focused on making sure students understand how to stay safe and maintain personal boundaries. Each family will receive an opt-out notice, as you did in the fall. If you wish for your child to opt-out of the one day lesson, simply complete the form and return it to the teacher. If you are fine with your child receiving the lesson, you do not need to do anything...no need to complete a form. The teachers will provide a due date for the forms. For more information on the program, click on this link: https://www.virtusonline.org/virtus/touchingsafetyprogram.cfm

Statements for April

The statements for April will come out a week late in April. They will go home on April 17th, instead of April 10th. Tuition is still due by the 10th, unless you are on FACTS. This should only impact charges for meals and extended care.
