Summary of TFIOS

The book by John Green called The fault in our stars is a story follows the main character, Hazel Grace Lancaster, as she battles cancer. Through out the story, Hazel is trying to live the normal life of a 16-year-old girl, but Hazel has cancer so she is also struggling with what it will be like for her parents after she dies. While Hazel attends a church support group for cancer survivors that her parents are forcing her to go to, she meets a boy, Augustus Waters. Augustus and Hazel's mother surprise Hazel with a trip to go meet Peter Van Houten, to provide the answers of the questions they have for the end of the book. Augustus even uses his only wish to fly him and Hazel to Amsterdam, so they can talk with him in person. While Hazel thinks she is the one that is doomed to die, Augustus reveals to her that on his recent scan the doctors discovered more cancer and so he is doomed to die too. The two of them spend the rest of Gus's life caring and loving each other.

Why should you buy this?

I think you should buy this book because, one its not only a good read but it also teaches you a great lesson. You shouldnt treat a person differently just because they have cancer treat them like a normal person and act like they dont have it.

"I’m in love with you, and I know that love is just a shout into the void, and that oblivion is inevitable, and that we’re all doomed and that there will come a day when all our labor has been returned to dust, and I know the sun will swallow the only earth we’ll ever have, and I am in love with you." (Chapter 10, Page 153)

How is it coming to age?

Hazel was the type of person that didnt want to go out into the real world, she just wanted to be left alone in her bedroom. But Hazel's mother made her grow up some and go out into the real world and go to support group, there she met Gus and they went on many adventures together. If Hazel wouldnt had taken that one step of going to support group she would've never met the love of her life.

Ansel Elgort, who plays Gus in TFIOS, really encourages readers of all ages to buy this book. In his last press interview, Elgort said "for every book bought, I shall donate half of the funds to little kids in need."
