K-2 Updates
Dean Saeed
Ø The K-2 Homework club started last week on the 19th. This is one of the main initiatives we are trying to help our students. Please review the information that was sent out and invite your students who need help completing and turning in assignments. Please encourage your students and parents to take advantage of this opportunity.
Ø We had our reading night for this month of January 14th. This time it was organized by the first grade team. This reading night had a snowman theme. In addition to the fun focus on literacy, we experienced creativity and originality when we watched the first grade teacher and TAs use different ways to use common household items to build a snowman.
Ø Thank you first grade for a night filled with great literacy and creativity.
Ø K-2 completed Map testing. During our PLC meetings we are spending a lot of time discussing and analyzing the data.
Ø We will spend this upcoming week and the week after discussing our Map data and ways to adjust our instructional practices based on the data. We are developing a new plan for each grade level.
Ø Math Night for K-2. Will be rescheduled. Please join our different grade levels to learn about what we do in Math. The purpose of the night is engaging students and having fun with Math.
3-5 Updates

-Our mentors are continuing to meet with their mentees. At this point in the year, observations may scale back, but meetings still need to occur. Mentors will use their professional judgement and discuss with their mentee the frequency of observations.
-Wellness Committee will be hosting our next virtual event, Heads Up Wednesday, January 20th from 6-7pm. Use Zoom ID 898 772 9158.
-3-5 Academic Game Night will begin in February. 5th grade will kick things off with our first virtual event Wednesday, February 17th from 5:30-6:30. Students and staff are encouraged to attend.
-Tutoring is still occurring on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We need to work to increase our number of students attending.
Care Team Updates
The Care Team will be hosting office hours in Ms. Washington's Zoom ID (831 562 1289) each Monday between 2-4pm. Our goal is to use this time to hear directly from you (the teachers) about your experiences with this student/family who may benefit from our services. To keep information confidential, please sign up for a 20 min time slot here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0C4CACA72AA5F9C07-care This way not everyone is logging into the same Zoom meeting all at once. The Care Team will discuss how to best meet your student needs then provide an update by the end of that week.
Thanks for all you do for our students!
