Search, rescue efforts continue for missing passengers of Cebu sea mishap

CEBU CITY, Aug. 17 (PIA) --- Search and rescue operations are still underway for the missing passengers M/V St. Thomas Aquinas which sank off the waters of Talisay City following its collision with M/V Sulcon Express 7 on Friday night.
Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Central Visayas quickly sent a search and rescue vessel to comb the Lawis Ledge area off the coast of Talisay City where the sea collision took place. READ MORE

DENR-7 creates team to investigate oil spill from Talisay City sea mishap

TALISAY CITY, August 19 (PIA) --- The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) here has created a four-member team to look into the reported oil spill resulting from the sea vessel collision off the coast of Talisay City.
DENR-7 through its Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) will conduct a field investigation to determine the extent of damage caused by the oil spill and collect water samples for further laboratory tests, according to DENR-7 Information Officer Dr. Eddie Llamedo. READ MORE
P14.4M agri projects turned over to Cebu farmer groups

CEBU CITY, August 19 (PIA) --- The Department of Agriculture (DA) recently turned over P14.4 million in agriculture projects to farmer organizations in Cebu.

Authorities to go on all out campaign against butane use

CEBU CITY, Aug. 16 (PIA)---Authorities are set to go all out in the campaign against butane use.
In a Kapihan sa PIA, three agencies reiterated that the continuous usage of butane in the household as a permanent replacement to liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is dangerous.
Department of Energy (DOE) regional director, Antonio Labios warned that butane canisters which are being recurrently used and refilled with LPG is a very dangerous practice. READ MORE
