Avoiding the "Summer Slide"

Below is an article on ideas to help support learning over the summer to prevent the academic summer slide. We often get questions at the end of the school year on how to support learning during summer break. It is our hope that the article provides some ideas on fun ways to help your student over the summer. The two areas we often suggest parents to focus on are reading and math. We hope all of our students have a great summer!!!

Tips in Avoiding the Summer Slide

Lost and Found

With the close of the school year it is important to have your student check our Lost and Found. If you are missing items you are welcome to come in at the end of each school day next week to see if any of your student's lost items have been found. Our Lost and Found can be available to parents from 2:45-3:30. Even though it is after our school day, we ask that you still check-in at the main office.

Thank you

Medication in the Main Office

If you have medication in the main office for your student, please come and pick up before the school year ends. After June 9 we can not guarantee someone will be in the building.

Last Day of School

Due to inclement weather days and the cancellation of days for the 2022-2023 school year, GCS will be in session until Friday, June 9, 2023. Friday will be a half day for students with the following dismissal times:

**GIS: 11:34 AM**

GHS: 11:47 AM

GMS: 11:26 AM

NOE: 11:55 AM

SME: 11:24 AM

Thank You for an Excellent School Year

As we wrap up another school year, we would like to thank all of you for an excellent first year in our new roles at Gaylord Intermediate School. It is our hope that you and your student(s) had a quality experience for the 2022-23 academic year. We are already looking forward to next year and will continue a tradition of excellence at GIS. Our motto at GIS is "Expect the Best", we try and hold our selves to that motto everyday. The students had a great year of academic growth as well as some excellent experiences that we know will be remembered for a life time. Please enjoy the summer and we look forward to seeing you next year. We wish our 6th graders success and new beginning in the middle school and eagerly await our incoming 4th graders from SME/NOE for the 2023-24 school year.

Thank you for your support all year!!
