NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION

The LIVE sessions are required and SUPER HELPFUL for the success of our students and learning coaches!

  • IMPORTANT: Log-in under the STUDENT Account in the Online School to receive credit for attending.
  • New Student Orientation Sessions will appear under your student's "Class Connect" schedule. They will begin Monday, August 13th!
  • Attendance is required within the 1st week of starting school.

New Student Orientation

The learning coach and student are both required to attend a New Student Orientation Session. The sessions are approximately one hour long. You and your student need to log into the session from your Student's Online School account, NOT the learning coach account.

We have two different learning platforms, K-5 and the Middle School/High School Platform. If you have multiple children in the same platform, you only need to attend one session. If you have multiple children in different platforms, you will need to attend one session for each platform.

August Orientation Sessions

  • Mondays and Tuesdays at 10:00 a.m.
  • Thursdays and Fridays at 4:00 p.m.

September Orientation Sessions

  • Tuesdays at 10:00 a.m.
  • Thursday at 4:00 p.m.

October Orientation Sessions

  • Tuesdays at 10:00 a.m.

IMPORTANT: Keep an eye on your student's Class Connect Schedule. This is where you will see the Orientation show up on your student's schedule.

TIP: Plan to login/arrive 10 minutes prior to the start of the session. This gives you some time in case you encounter a technology issue.

Get Ready for our Call!

Stay tuned to your email and voicemail for a Connection Call from your Strong Start Specialist and/or Homeroom Teacher.

ATTENDANCE 101

**IMPORTANT**

Start reporting attendance on your 1st day of school. Please watch this training video on how to accurately log attendance for your student:

https://safeshare.tv/x/fOfyX6lXNIY#

TIP: Keep a journal of all time spent in class connects, orientations, online and offline work so your student gets credit for all time spent. Attendance is entered manually by the Learning Coach. The video explains how to override and manually enter attendance.

Access to Classes

The state of North Carolina has a policy that applies only to virtual charter schools in calculating membership for funding purposes. Each child cannot be counted for funding until ALL classes have been started.

Students need to attend Class Connect sessions, work in the Online School (OLS) and record time worked online and offline for EACH of the assigned classes. Learning Coaches will then verify and log attendance hours daily.

K12 LIVE Walk to Class

Our K12 National Team is hosting live Walk to Class sessions. You can register to attend a live Walk to Class Session where you will learn more about the essentials to prepare for the new school year, including how to use the Online School and other getting started details.
