URCEO Family Newsletter
May 20, 2021
Dear URCEO Families,
We are in the final sprint of the school year. Many years ago, I was a runner and there is nothing as thrilling or exhausting as taking the last turn on the track. It's the place and time when you have to pull anything and everything you have left into crossing the finish line. There is now less than a month remaining in the school year and yet so many learning opportunities still ahead! I know I feel the adrenaline and hope you too are ready to cheer your child through this last stretch!
Last night we held a Senior CRAM event. Two seniors attended and we appreciate their commitment! We are open to hosting another opportunity next week, and would like to hear from our senior families. Let us know if this is something that would be beneficial for your student. Seniors need to be graduation ready on June 1st. That morning will be our Senior Breakfast and confirmation of graduation eligibility. Graduation is Friday, June 4th at 6 p.m. We are still working on details with changes in COVID safety requirements, but we hope by moving the event to the Outback field (across from Hillside Elementary) that we will be able to include more guests. Details will be shared directly with senior families next week.
To all of our families, thank you for encouraging and supporting your children in attending their weekly SynchMeets. Our reward store merchandise is in and we are opening the door on Friday afternoon from 2-3 p.m. If this time does not work for your family, there will be additional opportunities such as Mondays from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. Students who maintain a 92% or better attendance rate weekly earn tokens which can be exchanged for rewards.
Your child's teacher will inform them of tokens earned on Friday morning. We also have rewards specifically selected for our secondary students!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Green

We will have outdoor, socially distanced tie-dye stations at 129 Platt Avenue in Eagle Point on Friday, May 21. All materials are provided for this event.
The reward store will also be open for eligible individuals in grades K-12.
To encourage school spirit as we approach the end of the year, we are sharing the ABC Countdown Calendar. It includes a simple daily spirit activity focused around the alphabet. We encourage our secondary students to participate too. Can you believe we only have 26 days until summer AND even less school days!?!?

Oregon Seniors and GED Graduates Still Have Time to Apply for the Oregon Promise Grant
With the effects of the pandemic, many students and families are facing uncertainty related to their postsecondary education and training plans. Oregon Promise application numbers are currently lower than they were for prior graduating classes, and OSAC is working to ensure that every eligible student is aware of the upcoming deadlines. Students who are graduating from high school or receiving their GED® between March 1, 2021 and June 30, 2021 can still apply. High school graduates have until Tuesday, June 1 to apply and GED® test graduates have until Monday, July 12 to apply.
The application process has two steps:
- Submit the Oregon Promise Grant Application and
- Submit the 2021-22 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Oregon Student Aid Application (ORSAA).
Applying for the grant does not bind a student to attending a particular college; they will only be asked to accept the award with their college if/when they enroll.
The Oregon Promise Grant is now in its 6th year of awarding, established by the Oregon Legislature in 2015 to begin awarding funds to the Class of 2016. More information about the eligibility and awarding criteria of the Oregon Promise Grant, along with the application link, can be found online at www.OregonPromise.org.
