National Industrial Recovery Act

(NIRA) We regulate EVERYTHING!

*The National Industrial Recovery Act was enacted by Congress in June of 1933.

*It was one way that FDR sought to assist the nation's economic recovery during the Great Depression.

*The NIRA suspended anti-trusts laws and set codes of fair competition. Also, business, labor, and government cooperated to set prices, hours and wages. In other words, the government had a lot of control in cooperations.

*The National Recovery Administration ran the NIRA.
