National Suicide Prevention Awareness Week
To help our school community learn about suicide prevention, our District Lead Response Team has been sharing out resources with school staff through faculty meetings and newsletters.
At SBHS, our BRIDGE program and Student Assistance Counselors are working on developing collaborative programs to provide student outreach and services.
Our Signs of Suicide program, are also starting to be delivered in Adolescent Issues classes this month, to help students learn signs of distress in themselves and others, and to learn how to access help and support.
Homework Free Days for the 2023-2024 School Year
South Brunswick continues to be purposeful and intentional in designating “homework free” nights throughout the year. The purpose of homework free nights is to give students time off from preparing homework and projects and studying for tests, as well as offering students an opportunity to explore topics that they are passionate about, spend time with family, and enjoy outside activities. There is tremendous value in engaging in meaningful homework assignments that give students the opportunity to review and practice, to expand ideas and to explore new concepts without the pressure of time. At the same time, there are times when we need to collectively have a break from the responsibilities of homework and enjoy time with family and friends.
“Homework Free" dates to span the 2023-2024 school year:
Fall: November 22- November 27, 2023 (Thanksgiving Break) - No assignments or long-range projects due or tests given before November 30.
Winter: December 22, 2023 – January 2, 2024 (Winter Break) - No assignments or long-range projects due or tests given before January 4.
Winter: February 16, 2024 – February 19, 2024 (Presidents Weekend) - No assignments or long-range projects due or tests given before February 21.
Spring: March 25, 2024 – March 29, 2024 (Spring Break) - No assignments or long-term projects due or tests given before April 3.
