OCE Curriculum Nights

Based on feedback from the parent survey, OCE is bringing a series of curriculum night presentations to parents.

First up is "Today's Math: I didn't learn math like that!"

The workshop will take place on Wednesday, January 16 from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. at OCE. Childcare will be provided and there will be presentations in both English and Spanish. For more information see the flyer below.

Go ahead and mark your calendars for two additional curriculum nights at OCE:

  • February 20, 2019, 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. – Building Socio-Emotional Skills in Your Elementary School Child. In this workshop parents will learn how to attend to the socio-emotional development of their child while also setting appropriate limits and following through on consequences.

  • March 13, 2019 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. – Reading is Fundamental! (K-5) Reading is fundamental to function in today’s society and in developing a good self-image. One of the most effective approaches to help a child develop literacy skills is having a home environment that encourages reading in daily life. Parents will learn how to support the development of their child’s literacy at home.

Silent Auction and Gala Ticket Sales NOW OPEN!

The Silent Auction and Gala are fast approaching. Our fundraising goal is to purchase new laptops for all of our teachers this year!!

Here is a quick check list so you don't miss out on any of the fun this year:

  • Call your babysitter. The auction is an adults only event and the perfect excuse for a night out!
  • Tickets are on sale now!! Get them here - the event sold out last year, so don't wait!
  • Can't make it in person? Mark you calendar anyway! Many items will be available to bid on from home so you can still support our school in your PJs at home. More information here.

The auction will be Saturday, February 16th at MacGregor Downs Country Club from 6:00 - 10:00 p.m. and will include music, dinner, dancing, dessert, silent auction, 50/50 raffle, and the live auction.

And we're always looking to add more items! Check out the wish list here then contact for more information.

Box Tops

Keep clipping those Box Tops, Clippers! The next collection deadline is February 1st. The top class in each grade with the most Box Tops submitted in the New Year will win their choice of a Board Game Day, Extra Recess or a PJ Day...and who doesn't love a PJ Day?!

Clip and send in your box tops in a bag with your child's teacher's name on it (so we can count them for the class prize) or print out the sheet attached below and paste them on. Box Tops can be returned to your teacher's or to the Box Tops Mail Box in the school lobby.

Walk to School Wednesday

Despite the chillier temperatures, we still had a great showing for Walk to School Wednesday on the 9th. Check out our very own Officer Patel with some of our area fire fighters and OCE walkers!

Mark your calendars for the next walk date on February 6th!
