A Message from the Principal
Greetings,
It was great to see so many of you at Maple last Friday. What a fun filled night! I absolutely loved having the 4th grade Recorder Concert outside. Mrs. George’s Student Art Display was phenomenal as well. Thanks to all of you, we had our best Scholastic Book Fair yet! We sold $5041, which equated to receiving $3779 “Scholastic Dollars” for Mrs. Wyen to purchase books for the library, students and teacher wish lists. Kuddos to Mrs. Kendall and Mrs. Samide for all the fun activities in the Café as well. I was impressed with how many students pledged to go a week with no screen time. I hope our Fun Friday helped!
Proud, proud, proud! Our 3rd and 4th grade students have given their personal best on ILEARN over the last two weeks. They have persevered through 5 different tests so far. Third grade students have completed ILEARN and will begin NWEA next week. Fourth grade will have two ILEARN Science tests next week and then take NWEA. We have decided to not test the area of Language Skills this spring in order to cut out an hour of testing. Our Kindergarten through 2nd graders have completed NWEA and results will be sent home in report cards on the last day of school. Thanks to all of you who had your child here on time each day!
It’s hard to believe there are only 18 days of school left this year! Time flies when you’re having fun. Have a wonderful weekend.
Sincerely,
Nikki Harrison
Counselor's Corner
May is Asian Heritage month at Maple. We have many families from different countries in Asia and we would like to celebrate all those cultures and languages on the morning news. If you would like to help us highlight your family’s heritage, please contact me! We will have a bulletin board dedicated to pictures and fun facts. In addition, we will be sharing fun facts and even offering brief language lessons on the morning news. We can’t do it without your input. I look forward to learning more about our families!
I would like to congratulate the following students who will be our peer mediators for 2019-2020: Sukhman Singh, Hargun Gill, Ledya Tilahun, Richie Storch, Willow Harvey, Abigail Theising, Sam Rose, Zoe Flory, Porter Key, Emily Johnson, Orianna Gentry, Braylah Waterman and Tri Tran.

A Message from Mrs. Kendall, Title 1/EL Teacher
Dear Families,
Thank you for attending our Math and Reading Game Night. I hope you were able to walk away with some ideas to incorporate math/reading with common household items. As the school year is coming to a close, I will be asking for your input in order to improve our efforts in Maple’s Title 1 program. I will be sending a survey paper home with your child soon and hope to get many responses.
Sincerely,
Yael Kendall
