Tulsa's Annual Thanksgiving Day Pancake Breakfast & ST Math Dance Party

Dr. Powell, principal at Tulsa School for Advanced Studies, hosted Tulsa's Annual Thanksgiving Day Pancake Breakfast right before Fall Break. Dr. Powell, your apron says it all!
Tulsa celebrated all students who have mastered at least 20% of the ST Math syllabus. There were 200 students who reached or exceeded that goal so they were invited to a ST Math Dance Party with the principal and rewarded with a treat and dancing. Awesome dance moves, Tigers!

Granada Elementary Student Volunteer Program

Granada Elementary School is proud to announce our new student volunteer program. Students in grades first through fifth grade have an equal opportunity to volunteer to be a school leader. Students have access to neon green vests which empowers them to advise, encourage, guide, assist and report to administration good and needy behavior, in order to provide a safe and clean environment. Our school now has calm and organized recess and lunch periods. (See our 2nd and 3rd graders in action below.) Students are proud of their school. If you want to see it in action, just come by and visit.

Grati-Tuesday Sidewalk Chalk Campaign at Mayall

What are you thankful for? Mayall Academy is participating in the Grati-Tuesday Sidewalk Chalk Campaign and students shared what they were thankful for.

Mayall Academy Visits VAAS

On Tuesday, 12/7/21, ninety-one of Mayall Academy’s 5th, 4th, and 3rd grade students attended an Arts Articulation day at Valley Academy of Arts and Sciences High School (VAAS). Mayall students were warmly welcomed with performances from the theater, dance, and musical groups. VAAS student leaders took groups to participate in dance, theater, musical, and visual arts activities led by the arts students and teachers. Mayall students were treated to snacks, lunch, and a tour of VAAS. The auditorium was filled with student designed scenery where Mayall students took pictures for their frames created in visual arts. VAAS and Mayall students performed what they learned in dance, theater, and music in the auditorium before returning to school. It was wonderful to have the VAAS student leaders interact with and teach the Mayall students. The experience is one that Mayall students will remember and encourage them to attend VAAS as high schoolers.

Castlebay Lane's Kindness Garden & Cereal Box Book Project

PATH, Castlebay’s wonderful parent group, worked with all of Castlebay Lane’s students to create a Kindness Garden. Inspired by the book “Only One You” written by Linda Kranz, teachers taught students about being kind to create a better world for everyone, and they painted rocks to represent their vision for what kindness means to them.
To promote reading, Castlebay’s third graders read a book and designed a cereal box that highlighted parts of the book they read. Each student delivered a presentation with their cereal box, and it has resulted in students wanting to read each other’s books! Those are some cereal boxes everyone would want to dive right into!

Barbie Bungee Experiment at Henry

In this hands-on and authentic learning project, Henry's math students in Mr. Bernardo Bascara's class had to determine how many rubber bands were needed to give Barbie the most thrilling bungee jump while still jumping safely (not hitting the ground). Students explored linear functions while having fun!
