Granada Elementary Student Volunteer Program
Granada Elementary School is proud to announce our new student volunteer program. Students in grades first through fifth grade have an equal opportunity to volunteer to be a school leader. Students have access to neon green vests which empowers them to advise, encourage, guide, assist and report to administration good and needy behavior, in order to provide a safe and clean environment. Our school now has calm and organized recess and lunch periods. (See our 2nd and 3rd graders in action below.) Students are proud of their school. If you want to see it in action, just come by and visit.

Grati-Tuesday Sidewalk Chalk Campaign at Mayall
Mayall Academy Visits VAAS
On Tuesday, 12/7/21, ninety-one of Mayall Academy’s 5th, 4th, and 3rd grade students attended an Arts Articulation day at Valley Academy of Arts and Sciences High School (VAAS). Mayall students were warmly welcomed with performances from the theater, dance, and musical groups. VAAS student leaders took groups to participate in dance, theater, musical, and visual arts activities led by the arts students and teachers. Mayall students were treated to snacks, lunch, and a tour of VAAS. The auditorium was filled with student designed scenery where Mayall students took pictures for their frames created in visual arts. VAAS and Mayall students performed what they learned in dance, theater, and music in the auditorium before returning to school. It was wonderful to have the VAAS student leaders interact with and teach the Mayall students. The experience is one that Mayall students will remember and encourage them to attend VAAS as high schoolers.

Barbie Bungee Experiment at Henry
In this hands-on and authentic learning project, Henry's math students in Mr. Bernardo Bascara's class had to determine how many rubber bands were needed to give Barbie the most thrilling bungee jump while still jumping safely (not hitting the ground). Students explored linear functions while having fun!
