Hello, Longwood Families!
It's been another terrific week at Longwood! See below for photo highlights our lions' hard work, NED's visit for our Mindset assembly, and Out of the Blue Winners.
We look forward to welcoming you on Thursday, September 28th at 6:00 for Curriculum Night. We'll begin our evening in the gym. Curriculum Night is an opportunity to visit your child's classroom, meet with their teacher, and learn about the many ways they'll learn and grow this school year. See you then!
Please continue reading for additional reminders for the upcoming week, including our first ALICE drill and Winter Boot/Coat Pick Up. Thank you for staying connected!
Have a wonderful weekend, Lions! Thank you for being a part of our Pride!
ALICE Drill: Monday, September 25th
Dear Parents/Guardians,
The safety of our students and employees has always been the school district's top priority. We are committed to maintaining best practices to keep us safe at school during different situations. Among our efforts to remain diligent with security, is the realization of a shelter drill (confinement) that we will have on Monday, September 25, 2023, with the presence of the police. During this drill, no one will be allowed to enter or leave the building.
As always, we will use this drill as an opportunity to discuss ALICE safety program concepts with students in an age-appropriate manner and identify opportunities for improvement in emergency response. We appreciate the community's help in conducting our drills to keep our school safe.
Your student(s) are expected to have questions. We will continue to discuss safety with them in class, but we strongly suggest that they take time at home to have this conversation with their student(s). Share with them that school is a very safe place and answer their questions as best you can. Contact your students' teacher if you have questions that you are not sure how to answer.
Please contact Mr. Hightower if you would like to discuss the safety drill in depth.

NED Mindset Mission Assembly
NED's Mindset Mission is a character education program that centers around three important messages that have lifelong relevance: Never give up, Encourage others and Do your best. During the assembly, students learned about the importance of these three life skills while also enjoying storytelling, magic, humor and yo-yo tricks.
Out of the Blue Winners!
Dear Longwood Families,
At Longwood Elementary School, we believe that everyone should be warm this winter. We know that some of our families may have challenges providing winter coats, boots, and winter accessories for their school-aged children. For this reason, our district community has been collecting new and gently used warm, clean coats, boots, and winter accessories of all sizes for kids from Preschool to 5th Grade.
Pickup is at McCarty Elementary School
3000 Village Green Drive, Aurora
Friday, September 29th 4:00-6:00 pm

- Pickup is at McCarty Elementary School. *Note: This is different than years past. We will not host an event at Longwood Elementary.
- We will not be able to do any exchanges. There is no return policy.
- There is limited inventory - all colors and sizes that are out are what are available
- We cannot assure you we will find a winter coat for everyone, but will do our best
- This is a first-come, first-serve event
