The Manning Weekly Update
November 12, 2021
Manning Community,
- We are seeing more and more students coming to school without masks or losing their masks during the day. Of course, we have been supplying masks for students when they don't have one, but please make sure that your student has a mask each day and a couple more in their backpack or locker in case they misplace or lose it during the day.
- We had over 30 parents join us for parent partnership on Tuesday evening. We have decided that going forward, we will host parent partnership in person AND have a virtual option through Zoom for parents that can't meet in person. We had a rich conversation about the social emotional efforts at Manning and ways that we can continue to connect our student community in this challenging time when Covid numbers continue to rise throughout Colorado. We will survey the students when they get back from Thanksgiving break to see what types of events they would like to see occur and then we will discuss this data during our next parent partnership meeting and begin to put some plans together for student events.
- Finally, our Manning staff is constantly working with our students to make good choices and then reinforce those good choices that they make throughout the day and week. We believe in the talents and gifts of our students and know that sometimes they are faced with difficult choices. Next week, Deputy Lewis, our school resource officer, will be meeting with each grade level around the topic of "sexting" during their access classes next week. Sexting (texting sexual content) used to occur only at the high school level, but more and more we are seeing it at the middle school level. Deputy Lewis will inform students of the dangers of sexting, including being aware of "phishing" from unknown numbers and what to do in case this happens to them. We do believe this is an important topic for all students. If for any reason, you would like to opt your student out of this grade level sexting assembly, please email me at, Christian.Ramaker@jeffco.k12.co.us by Monday, 11/15, end of business.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Better Together,
Christian Ramaker
