Mrs. Jenkins: We have had a great start of the year in music class! Kindergarten has been playing a name game, 1st graders have been practicing up and down while singing "Let us Chase the Squirrel" and 2nd graders have been learning to sing about a "Bright Happy Day"! Everyone is making sure to use their best beautiful voice in everything we do! We have so many wonderful musicians here at West Godwin!

Mrs. Johns: Hi, I am Mrs. Johns, your child's physical education teacher. I previously taught at the high school and am having so much fun getting to know "the littles" here at West. In PE class this month we have been focusing on our class rules and procedures: Be Safe! Always Listen! and Try Your Best! Kindergarten classes have enjoyed moving to "The Goldfish Song" and learning different ways to move our bodies through hopping, leaping, walking and jogging. 1st and 2nd graders are reviewing those locomotor skills along with skipping, jumping, galloping and gliding. Ask your child to see if they can show you all 8 locomotor moves!

Ms. Matelski: Library Update:

Students have been spending time exploring the library and discovering where to find their favorite books! We have talked about book care and the ways we treat our books. This next month we will be discussing the roles of authors and illustrators, the different parts of a book, and how to PICK the just right book for us! Please remember if your students bring a library book home, to return it back to school on their library day so they can check out a new one!

PTO Fundraiser

Students will be bringing home information this week about our PTO Fundraiser. Please watch your child's backpack for more information. West Godwin has 2 fundraisers per year to help support field trips and special school events. Selling will begin on Monday, October 10.

Kids' Food Basket

Kids' Food Basket sack suppers has begun for those students who have signed up! Opt-in forms were sent home with your child. If you have not already done so, please fill out the form and return it to school with your child as soon as possible so that we can get your student on the list to receive a sack supper!
