A Message From the Principal...
Hello Owls!
We encourage all students to attend school every day, and on time!
On the flip side, we are having an abundance of students being dismissed early from classes each day. We understand that Doctor appointments and other things may be cause to pull your student from class before the 3:40pm dismissal time, however please know this is a large disruption in the classroom and for your student!
We are asking parents/guardians to refrain from picking up their students from school early; between 3:25pm and 3:40pm--in order to allow our teachers to finish out their days with students. Unless you have an appointment or emergency, please wait till the bell rings for your student. We appreciate the understanding and adherence to this policy.
In the Cafeteria.....
We are experiencing an influx of students bringing packed lunches to school--with food items that need to be heated in a microwave. Think--ramen noodles, soups, frozen burritos, frozen meals, etc. Unfortunately, we are not able to support the heating of student lunches at school. If you choose to send your student with a packed lunch, please be sure that it is something that does NOT need to be heated.
Last for this upcoming week, the WHS Homecoming Parade will kick off on Saturday, Oct. 9th from the high school at 10am. Be sure to come check it out, as Westy Academy's own students will be representing our school in an "Outta This World" kind of way! Click the link below for more info on the parade.
Sincerely,
Mr. Warwick

9 Health COVID Vaccination Clinic on Oct. 3rd!
Hello WAIS families! We are pleased to announced that Westminster High School is holding a free vaccination event on Sunday, October 3rd from 9am to 2pm. The vaccine is available for students 12 years and older. Please see (or click—however you want to word) the flier for information.
Presently, Adams County has an overall vaccination rate for children ages 12-17 of 58.75%, while WPS has an overall vaccination rate for children of only 23.1%. As winter approaches and we’re spending more time indoors, increasing our vaccination rate will increase our chances of staying “in-person” for school.
We know that going to online learning has an enormous impact on the lives, work and mental health of our families—not to mention the impact it has student learning—So please take advantage of this free and convenient opportunity!
Thanks

BE INFORMED--TikTok and Your Student's Safety
Hello WAIS Parents,
As you may have heard, schools across the nation have been dealing with a new social media trend called "Devious Licks" originating from the social media app "TikTok."
In this TikTok "challenge", Students are encouraging each other to steal from and vandalize their schools, and even harass staff. These offenses will not be tolerated at Westy Academy.
Consequences for these sorts of actions can include suspension, expulsion and legal charges.
Please see the attached fliers for more information on this trend, and please monitor your student's internet activity!
Thank you for your partnership.
Sincerely,
Russ Warwick
Principal, Westminster Academy for International Studies.
