A Message from the Administrative Team
Greenwood Students and Families:
The secondary students have received the selection of studies form for 2023-24. All forms are due to the counselor by March 1.
All spring sports will begin practice on Monday. Coach Melissa Kuhar, 2022 Coach of the Year, will again lead the defending final four 3rd place team in girls’ soccer. Track and field will be led by hall of fame coach Don Keeton and assisted by Loren Broaddus and Todd Mercer. Chris Adams and Tim Williams will lead our second season of baseball. Alex Wiley and Jeff Tebbenkamp continue as head coaches for our tennis and golf teams respectively.
Contracts for 2023-24 for current students will be distributed in late March or early April. All families should anticipate an increase in tuition (approximately 5%) and some fees will increase as well.
Phase I of the Greenwood cafeteria renovation should be begin during spring break. We hope to complete the project during the summer break. Please consider donating to this project if you have not done so already. Below is a rendering of the renovations.
The second annual Greenwood Showcase will occur on Thursday, March 30. This event will “showcase” student projects, performances, and fine art displays as a way to celebrate the talented students at Greenwood. More information will be forthcoming.
Go Blue Jays!

February Fundraiser for LLS
During the month of February, GLS Student Council joins forces with Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to raise money to help fight against Leukemia and other type’s blood cancers. This year, LLS has individually created grade level websites to help us keep track of donation amounts. The grade level with the most money donated will win a pizza party purchased by GLS Student Council.
Donations are of course optional, but any amount would be helpful! Please find your student’s grade level below and follow your link to the class website for donations. Also,

First Grade Guests
First Grade Students were excited to have GLS students Ethan Newberry and Cammie Parker bring Cosmo and Comet the Chinchillas to the classroom last week.
Students learned many interesting facts about chinchillas. They are named after the Chincha people of the Andes, and means “little Chincha.”
Chinchillas have the softest fur of any animal in the whole world and are endangered.
Earthquake Relief and Benzer Family
One of our Greenwood family members has been tragically impacted by the earthquake in Turkey. Fatih Benzer has lost numerous cousins, including teens and young children in the earthquake. Others that did survive are now homeless and working to relocate. Many have asked if there is anything that Greenwood family can do to help. We’ve spoken with Didem and she has provided two options for support. There is a very reputable organization in Turkey. Donating through this link will help all people affected by the earthquake. https://ahbap.org/disasters-turkey
The second option is to send money directly to Fatih’s brother to support the ones who have been relocated. Jennifer Agnew will collect donations and pass them on to Fatih and Didem to send via Western Union. Jennifer can accept payments via Venmo @Jennifer-Agnew-7. Her phone number is 417-844-4808. We want to send this quickly to have the biggest impact. If you do not Venmo, contact Jennifer for another form of payment.
Upcoming Archery Tournaments
Good luck to Ruby, Damien, Turner, Halston, Katie and Austin tomorrow morning as they participate in the Skyline Archery Tournament. We wish them the best!
Next week, we will have our own tournament for our students who have been practicing in Greenwood's first year of archery from 6:00-7:00 PM Thursday, March 2, on Daily Court. Anyone is welcome to come and watch, especially those students who have been thinking about it, and just want to see what it's about. You can park in Lot 8 without a permit for this tournament.
Practice next week will be each morning, Monday through Friday, February 27-March 3, 7:30-8:00 AM, on Daily Court.
